Welcome to this simple embodied practice.

This practice is designed to be used at the beginning of any therapeutic,

Ritual or intentional practice.

It serves as a way to gently transition from the activities of the day,

Creating a clear boundary between what has passed and the present moment.

By engaging in this simple embodied ritual,

We can enter together a liminal space,

A place of heightened awareness and presence where we're fully prepared to engage with the work ahead.

This practice helps to centre the mind,

Ground the body and open the heart,

Setting the tone for a meaningful and focused session.

Begin by finding a comfortable position,

Either seated on the ground or in a chair with your feet flat on the earth.

You can also stand with your feet hip width apart,

Feeling stable and supported.

Close your eyes or simply soften your gaze,

Allowing your attention to gently turn inward.

Bring your awareness to the points where your body connects with the earth,

Your sitting bones,

Your feet or the entire surface of your body if it touches the ground.

Imagine roots extending from these points,

Roots that reach deep into the earth,

Anchoring you firmly.

Feel the solid grounding energy of the earth supporting you.

Take a slow,

Deep breath in through your nose,

Allowing your belly and chest to expand fully.

Feel the breath travel down through your body,

Grounding you even more deeply.

Exhale gently through your nose or mouth,

Letting go of any tension or heaviness,

Sending it down into the earth through your imagined roots.

Repeat this breathing cycle three more times,

With each breath drawing in the earth's strength and each exhale releasing anything that doesn't serve you.

If it aligns with your beliefs,

Take a moment to invite in your ancestors,

Spirit guides or any supportive energies to be present with you.

Silently or aloud,

Ask them to offer their guidance,

Protection and wisdom as you move through this practice.

Visualise or sense their presence surrounding you,

Creating a circle of support and connection.

Acknowledge their presence with a simple thank you or a gesture that feels right to you.

If this doesn't align with your beliefs,

Simply visualise a protective energy emanating from your own body or from the earth,

Surrounding you with supportive,

Protective wisdom and guidance.

Now set a personal intention for your time in the session or the work you're about to do.

It could be a quality you wish to embody,

Like peace,

Clarity or connection or simply a word or feeling that resonates with you today.

Hold this intention in your heart,

Letting it guide your experience throughout the work ahead.

When you feel ready,

Slowly open your eyes or lift your gaze,

Bringing your awareness back to your surroundings.

Notice the connection between your body and the natural world,

The environment that you're in.

Feeling present,

Grounded and supported.

Take one more deep breath and with your exhale,

Release any remaining tension.

Ready to begin whatever therapeutic ritual or other practice you're planning to do.

Thank you.
