This is a gratitude meditation. Research has shown the vast benefits of gratitude such as a greater sense of happiness and well-being. As you soften your heart and welcome yourself home to your true nature, your life may be transformed. Science shows us that by presencing our blessings we can relieve depression, improve immune function, and lower blood pressure.

Transcript

Let's begin this gratitude meditation by closing your eyes or softly gazing downward and sitting in a nice straight yet relaxed posture or one that is comfortable for you.

Take a few deep breaths,

Taking this moment to feel into your body.

Noticing sensations arising and passing through,

Return to normal breathing as you gently notice your breath flowing in and flowing out all on its own.

I invite you now to bring to mind one thing you are most grateful for.

Allow it to spontaneously arise without thinking about it too much.

Allow this to be held vivid in your mind with all your senses.

Softening your heart and inviting it in.

Let it just be.

Let it settle and find a comfortable home.

Can you fully receive this blessing of gratitude?

Welcome it into your heart.

Allow yourself to receive this.

Receive it now a bit deeper and deeper still.

With each breath,

Breathe in your gratitude.

Feeling how fortunate you are to have this moment in this body on this earth,

Even within the difficulties,

Even within the challenges,

How blessed you are to be here.

Grateful for this kindness towards myself.

Grateful for just this moment of life.

Grateful for joy-filled moments.

Grateful for the compassion that arises even during pain or discomfort.

Grateful for the blessings,

Large and small.

Grateful that this pain is no greater than it is.

Grateful for our capacity to become whole and awake.

Grateful for the love and the grace that spontaneously emerges from your authentic heart.

Grateful for simply being.

Grateful for Earth.

Giving thanks to the universe for what you already have.

Continue to take a few more breaths and allow yourself to be present to this moment in time.

Blessings for a grateful heart.
