Hi,
And welcome to the first meditation in this mirror work series.
My name is Jordan,
And I'm going to be guiding you into yourself,
Your reflection,
And specifically we will be focusing on cultivating a non-judgmental awareness.
Neutral,
Non-dual observation.
So come to stand in front of the mirror.
Once you are ready,
You can stare into your eyes or let your view scan through your body.
I'm going to create a gentle introduction into the foundation of this practice.
So in this first part,
As we're creating the connection to yourself and familiarizing ourselves with the role of the observer,
Know that this is the necessary foundation for a fertile and rich playing field.
Our focus is on observing ourselves.
Telling our eyes to be open and open,
We begin to see that our eyes are open and open.
We begin to see that our eyes are open and open.
Almost immediately,
We begin to interpret this information.
You see your color eyes,
And then the story comes out.
The story is beyond the color.
Perhaps you say,
I have blue eyes or brown eyes or almond-shaped eyes.
And then you add,
They're beautiful or whatever judgment may come in.
The goal here is to not restrict what comes through,
But to become unattached to it.
So when you imagine a sink,
A rusty old sink,
When you first turn on the faucet,
Perhaps the water will run brown.
After a few minutes of running,
The water runs clear again.
Every now and then,
Maybe a chunk releases itself from inside the pipes,
But the water becomes clearer.
It keeps running.
The same is true for this meditation,
For meditation itself actually.
We allow the mind to process,
To digest,
To become focused and still.
So with this in mind,
Allow any negative thoughts or any interpretation of information to run through you.
You don't need to block it or hold on to it.
So bring your focus to the eyes if they're not here already.
And just breathe here,
Looking into your eyes,
The windows to your soul,
As some call it.
Letting your eyes be your point of focus,
Using them to be able to observe all the other movement from the mind.
We are raking our attention and perception,
Raking it clear,
Continuing to point our focus and attention toward the direction of pure presence.
No matter what terrain of thought,
Stories,
Judgment,
Emotions,
No matter what comes in,
Remaining present with your eyes.
Letting your focus to the eyes,
The windows to your soul,
As some call it.
Letting your focus to the eyes,
The windows to your soul.
Starting to breathe,
Letting your breath come into the very depths of your belly.
And begin to expand your point of focus instead of honing in just on the eyes.
Can you see if you can place your focus upon your face,
Taking in this face of yours?
And again,
Meeting with pure awareness,
Simply the information of shapes and color before you.
And seeing if you can truly allow judgments and emotions and stories to wash through as you settle your focus upon this reflection before you.
Navigating your way with the breath,
The help of the breath.
Navigating your way to observation.
Allowing all distractions or sounds or sounds of your own.
Your smells to fade into the background,
Anchoring your focus on your face.
Exhaling here for the next few moments.
How intimate to meditate upon this face.
To feel and see the breath rise and fall in your facial structure.
To witness and be witnessed at the same time.
As you're ready,
Expand your awareness one more time to encompass all of your reflection that shows in the mirror,
The outline of you.
Just observe what sensations this may bring up for you.
What quality of presence does this change of focus shift within you?
Just observing,
Breathing,
Being here.
Hardware man,
H Ecc wobbling Wa Jacque.
Camera man,
No Trans.
And now we will begin to introduce some more sensations as the information for us to take in.
So bringing your hands to the top of your head,
Resting your palms on the crown,
Listening for the sensations,
The shift of energy,
The shift of perception that this simple movement might or might not make throughout you.
There is no goal,
Just witnessing the subtle intimacy and awakening of sensation.
Allowing yourself to meditate upon touch,
Your touch,
And allowing yourself to still remain as the observer to all these sensations.
Bringing your palms down to rest on your cheeks now.
Feel the information of the structure of your face taken in from your hands,
Your cheekbones,
Jaw.
And the information of your palm and in the cheeks.
Perhaps you can notice the expansion and contraction of breath all the way into your cheeks.
This subtle wave of breath all taken in through the hands.
And now perhaps allowing the fingers or hands to explore the face,
Listening for sensation,
Listening for how the shift of your attention comes and goes.
Perhaps exploring the texture of your eyebrows.
Slowly exploring curiously.
Noticing all the information of senses through touch,
Texture,
Sight,
Perhaps even sound.
Maybe rubbing into the cheeks,
Noticing the plushy layer of skin over bone.
Noticing the ligaments that hold the jaw together.
Opening in the information with your fingertips.
Still continuing to breathe.
You can see the And now slowly allowing your touch to soften.
And in your own time bringing your hands back down to rest at the sides of your body.
And once again,
Focusing all of your attention into your eyes.
Letting your focus rest here.
Letting all the practices,
All the thoughts that have arisen.
To simply be accepted as all a valid part of this journey.
And taking our last moment to soak in gratitude.
Gratitude for coming here today to this practice.
For taking this intimate time to be with your inner landscape.
To allow yourself to rest.
And to create the fertile playing field where all beautiful things can grow.
Non-attachment,
Non-judgment.
A destination-less practice.
So taking this time to thank yourself in whatever way feels right for you.
And when you're ready,
We will close this practice with one om.
Taking a deep breath in through your nose.
Om.
