Hello and welcome.
My name is Tanya.
I am often asked about my effortless meditation and the benefit that they have.
And I would say that every effortless meditation is of benefit.
Sometimes during a meditation you might feel fidgety,
Your mind is very active.
And both those things are a very normal part of meditation.
The benefit comes in our response to the meditation.
If we allow ourselves to be kind and free of judgment,
Free of any comparisons or expectations.
And if we simply observe,
Almost like we have a pair of binoculars that we are looking through and seeing how it is playing out without attaching to it,
Or rating it,
Or judging it.
But simply just observing.
It creates a moment for us to pause and to see that we are not our thoughts,
That we are not our emotions,
That both of those things they come and they go.
And just like a boat that is out on the ocean,
That is affected by the winds and by the current,
That we do drift away with our thoughts when we do a meditation.
But that's okay.
Because during an effortless meditation we can give ourselves an anchor.
And that might be some music,
It might be rain on the roof,
Or it might even just be bird sound if we're in the bush.
And sometimes we can even use an anchor that is a mantra.
And when we allow ourselves to have an anchor,
We know that we can rest our awareness on that mantra,
Or on the bird sound,
Or the rain on the roof at any time.
And so the benefit is in our non-response.
When we realize that we've drifted away,
It's in our no judgment,
And just softly and kindly and in our own time coming back to the anchor that you've chosen to rest your awareness on that.
Again,
Without any judgment,
Without any comparison or expectation.
Simply allowing your experience to exist and to happen without putting an emotional feeling to it.
And it is during this process of meditation where we allow the experience that we're having to unfold,
That we're simply observing through binoculars.
We're almost having a sloth response where we are lazy about what's happening,
And we are slow in our response and simply observing.
Observing without judging.
It is this practice that over time as we do a meditation,
It is this practice that starts to seep into our everyday life,
That we can bring with us what we experience in meditation,
In effortless meditation,
Where we simply observe.
We observe our thoughts and we observe our feelings,
And we observe things that are happening around us,
But we allow ourselves to pause.
We allow some space to see that these things will pass,
And that we will be okay.
And so meditation is a practice,
And it's something that you can do every day,
Every couple of days,
And over time and in time,
That practice,
That pattern that you set up in meditation becomes the pattern for you in your everyday life.
And so sometimes you may have a meditation that feels good,
And some days it may feel great,
And some days you may feel a bit fidgety,
Or your mind may be really active.
Like I said,
All those things are normal,
And it's part of the mind roaming before returning back to your mantra.
But we can bring this into our everyday,
Knowing that our minds will wander,
Knowing that our emotions and our feelings will take us on a journey,
But we can always let go.
We can always come back and be kind and non-judgmental to ourselves.
And so I wish you well.
May your heart be open to wonder,
May your heart be open to gratitude,
And may you find grace in every day.
