Hello,
Good evening everyone,
Or maybe good morning,
Good afternoon,
Depending on where you guys are.
As usual,
I would like to remind you guys that I love to have the live events,
Both sides of communication,
So you are very welcome to participate in the comment section,
To ask your questions,
To share your opinions and experiences,
To agree,
To disagree,
It is a safe space for everyone to express themselves and just to connect with ourselves,
With each other,
With our community.
So actually that is why the topic of this live event is a community talk,
Because this series of live events that I'm hosting this year is emphasizing on the connection and we are discussing different aspects of connection.
And let me shortly introduce myself,
Of course,
My name is Diana,
I am a mind-body connection coach,
A psychosomatic specialist and a meditation teacher.
And let me shortly tell you what is in my plan for today's live event.
So we will be focusing on the aspects of grounding and centering in regards of connection.
We will have a discussion,
We will discuss the benefits of it.
I would love to hear your experiences and to answer your questions about the topic or some related ones probably.
And at the end,
As usual,
We will have a guided meditation on grounding and centering.
So please stay until the end of the live event if you would like to practice all together in our sacred space.
But if you cannot make it or if you would like to listen to this live event or to the recording of the meditation later,
Please subscribe to my profile,
I am uploading these live events as talks and as parts of the guided meditation,
So you can find them later in my profile.
All right,
So Violet,
Hi Violet,
I'm happy to see you here.
You're from New York,
Excellent.
Well,
It's one of my goals and one of my dream destinations to visit New York.
So one day I'll be there.
And Jolene,
Yes,
Exactly,
I'm from Boston,
Massachusetts,
USA.
My first time joining your life.
I enjoy the community I get from fellow yogis and like-minded spiritual people.
So lovely to meet you.
Thank you so much for sharing that.
I'm really happy to see you here the first time.
And you're always welcome here in our space.
And yeah,
That is actually one of the goals and purposes of these live events that I'm hosting,
To connect,
To find the like-minded people and to join the discussions.
Amazing.
Well,
And let's have a look at some of the aspects that we will be discussing today,
Grounding and centering.
I'm curious how you guys perceive and understand these terms,
Whether it is through your own experience,
Or maybe you know something about that.
And I will be very happy to know your side of this question.
As for me,
Grounding and centering,
These are very connected terms.
As for grounding,
This is when we pay attention to the present moment,
To the here and now.
Maybe when meditating or just in our daily life and being grounded in this present moment and absorbing all of these sensations,
All of the world around us,
Perceiving different parts of it.
And as for centering,
It is more like going inwards and connecting with your inner self.
So when your focus goes and you perceive the interception,
If you are familiar with this term,
When you are aware of everything that is going inside of you,
Whether it's emotions,
Any physical sensations,
Some of your mental states,
Thoughts,
And so on.
So basically,
I would say grounding,
Being in the present moment with the world,
Centering,
Being inwards.
And maybe for you guys it is different because this is not like a subtle term and we are here to discuss it and of course to discuss how we experience it,
If we have such experience in the past.
And also a very important moment here,
When we combine grounding and centering,
Probably in one practice or just in our daily lives,
It can drastically enhance our well-being.
And we will of course discuss the benefits of it later in our live session today.
All right,
Well,
Given that there are no comments,
I would assume that you guys agree with these definitions,
What we are talking today about,
So no problem with that.
And before we will discuss some particular techniques for grounding and centering,
I'm very curious how you guys are practicing it,
What helps you to feel grounded in the moment or to connect to yourself.
Whether these are some techniques or practices that you are using,
I'll be really happy to know it from you.
And I'm sure that it will be helpful for others also to exchange and to share.
One of the easiest,
I would say,
Techniques that I am using regularly a few times a day,
Especially when I'm feeling overwhelmed or a little bit lost or when I have to set my mind for something,
Is deep breathing,
Mindful breathing.
Sending the breath in the belly and tracing the path of the air through my torso,
Through my body.
I think that is the easiest way we can do that and it is accessible to anyone at any moment,
Literally.
Angelina,
For you,
Deep breathing with eyes closed and two hands on my stomach helps me feel grounded.
Well,
Exactly what I was talking about,
Excellent to know how we resonated with that.
Right,
Especially if we can place our hands somewhere in the parts of our body where we feel breath the most or the parts of the body that we want to relax or to connect with or probably to deepen our experience with,
We can place them somewhere,
Maybe in the chest or on the belly,
And it will definitely enhance our present moment experience.
That is true.
Beautiful.
Also,
The practice of mindfulness,
I'm sure that it is a very wide term,
But we can implement it again at any second of our life,
In any situation.
Just being present and mindful about everything that happens,
Everything that we see or hear,
Smell,
All of our senses can bring us back to the present moment and ground ourselves in the here and now.
There is also a practice,
A technique that I love to use,
Especially for calming the anxiety.
When you can notice five things around you,
It is called five,
Four,
Three,
Two,
One,
That is wide.
Five things that you can see around yourself,
You name them either out loud or in your head,
Just concentrating,
Picking them up from the surroundings.
If I'm not mistaken,
Four things that you can hear,
Maybe the voices,
Some of the cars around you,
TV,
So on.
Three things that you can touch,
Whether it's your clothes or a glass of water that you have beside you,
Maybe your pet or a tree if you're somewhere outside.
Two things that you can smell,
Probably your perfume or gases from the cars or the fresh air,
Whatever it can be at the moment.
And one thing that you can taste,
Even if you don't have anything to eat with you,
It is not necessarily the taste that you probably have in your mouth or chewing gum,
Anything.
So this technique is really helpful for grounding ourselves and for easing the anxiety,
And especially in the beginning of panic attacks or anxiety attacks as well.
All right,
So I hope you guys can remember,
I think that's the most difficult,
To remember this technique when the moment comes when you really need that.
Well,
Another tool that I love using is visualization.
It can be applied to anything and to grounding and centering as well,
Visualizing yourself in nature or in your safe space that will help you to connect to yourself,
To center and also to ground.
By the way,
I have the,
I think it is called My Safe Space Meditation,
Which got a lot of positive reviews and I love it myself.
I'm practicing it whenever I feel disbalanced and whenever I need to calm my mind especially and to ease the anxiety that I'm experiencing.
So I also recommend you guys to try this meditation if it is something that you are interested in.
It is really beautiful,
Very soothing and brings a lot of peace.
So visualization again is one of the techniques that I love using.
Well,
If you guys have some other ideas,
Some of the other tools that you like to implement for centering and grounding,
Please let us know.
Let's take a deep breath right now and return ourselves to the present moment.
Take a sip of water.
Please always stay hydrated.
That's really important.
And here I would like to mention probably my favorite,
My favorite technique that is extremely helpful to anyone,
Even the most skeptical person,
Being in nature.
And it can be being simply in a park,
In your garden.
If you can see a lot of trees around yourself and the grass,
Ground,
That would be amazing whether you're hiking.
And especially being barefoot in nature is something incredible,
Not only for your inner experience,
For centering,
For grounding,
For connecting with nature,
But also for your mental health and physical health.
There are a lot of researches that prove the benefits of being barefoot in nature,
Walking barefoot on the grass.
And I'm sure you guys already have heard about that.
And I encourage you and strongly recommend you to try it if you haven't already because it does magic to our body.
I always remind myself and my clients that we are animals.
Human beings are also animals.
And we need the connection with nature and be outside,
Under the sun,
Under the sky so much.
And it will drastically improve our life if we do so regularly.
I was also sharing in one of my previous life events that I went on a hike recently.
It was in the mountains and on the top of it there was a pine forest and I could walk barefoot there with no rocks just on the pine ground.
It wasn't covered with grass but with the leaves of the pine.
So that was beautiful.
The aroma was amazing.
And I was walking there for about 40 minutes in that part and lying down,
Enjoying myself.
And when I came back home I took a nap and I still felt that my feet were vibrating with the energy.
It almost never happens even if I'm walking barefoot in a park on the grass.
But I guess that the stimulation of the hike,
Of touching different cones and different tree branches with my feet,
That was so stimulating in a good way that I was so happy to feel it maybe for four or six more hours when I came back home.
So I hope this,
Guys,
Serves you as an encouragement to give yourself permission to experience this world barefoot.
All right.
Hi,
Eve.
I am not sure how to pronounce your name.
It's great to see you here.
All right.
Thank you,
Guys,
For joining us.
If you have any questions,
Any concerns or something else that you would like to discuss in this part about grounding and connection,
Please let us know.
You guys,
Of course,
Are free to communicate between each other.
Also,
In the comments,
This place is made for connection.
Okay.
Great.
Let's have a look at the next part that I've prepared.
Let's discuss the specific benefits of grounding and centering.
I'm sure these benefits and advantages are intuitional.
What I mean is that we assume they are,
And for some of us,
They can be obvious.
But again,
Reminding ourselves of their power,
Of how they can positively change us,
That's really important.
So let me also mention a few moments.
You guys are very welcome to share your opinions as well.
When we talk about the body,
The body aspect of the mind-body connection,
Which grounding and centering supports,
I can think of reducing stress and anxiety,
Especially if you are grounding in nature.
And it helps us to calm the mind and to reduce the feelings of stress,
To let go of unnecessary thoughts that I call just rubbish,
Rubbish in the head that inevitably accumulates during the days or weeks.
And grounding definitely helps to cope with that.
It can actually improve the sleep quality and relax not only our mind,
But also our body to deepen our sleep and to increase the quality of it,
Which is,
Of course,
Crucial for the well-being.
This might be quite unexpected,
But grounding also enhances our immune system.
And I find it fascinating how our bodies react to just being out there,
Whether in nature or at least visualizing nature and centering ourselves.
It can reduce pain and reduce inflammation inside our bodies.
So that's,
I think,
The benefit that can encourage us most to give these techniques a try.
If we are speaking about our emotions and emotional benefits,
This would be enhanced emotional regulation,
Which is extremely important not only for the emotional well-being,
But also for the relationships in our life,
For strengthening the relationships,
For making them healthier.
So basically grounding and centering helps us to manage our emotions on our own and to respond to stress and stressful situations in a better way,
With more resistance,
With more calm.
As we say at least in the Russian language,
With a cold head,
But I guess you guys can understand the meaning of it,
Just not being emotionally furious,
I want to say,
But more centered and calm,
Basically.
It can also improve our mood.
I think it is just inevitable.
No matter how bad,
How down,
Frustrated,
Whatever I feel,
If I spend at least 15 minutes in a park,
Just listening to birds singing,
People speaking around,
Seeing the sky and the trees around me,
This vastness around me,
It improves my mood.
And I'm sure that it works this way for every human being.
And I know when we are not feeling like our best selves,
When something happens and we just want to curl up in bed and spend all the days at home,
I want you guys to take yourself out on a walk.
Even if you don't have the access to the park,
Just being outside with the sunlight and just seeing the sunlight not through the lenses of your glasses,
And of course not directly into the sun,
But also perceiving the sunlight with your skin will help you to feel better.
So please guys,
Remember that if something happens,
Just go outside for a while.
I see that someone strongly agrees with that.
I'm really happy to know that.
Well,
And let's talk about the mental benefits.
If we are also speaking here about the mind-body connection,
Grounding and centering can improve our focus and concentration.
And you guys can elaborate how it can be beneficial for us in our studies and our work,
Just in our relationships again,
Being fully present with someone who you spend time with.
Endless,
Endless advantages of that.
And it can enhance creativity.
I think many of us also experience that when we let go of all the expectations,
When we are not listening to music,
When we are not just in our bubble,
But we allow ourselves to relax into the here and now and being outside,
Or just practicing some grounding techniques,
We can feel some kind of inspiration,
Which can lead to creativity.
If probably some of you guys would disagree with that,
I'm not sure.
This comes from my experience,
What I'm describing right now.
Let me know if it works the same for you,
Or probably not.
It's very interesting to know that.
Well,
And of course,
Especially if we are speaking about centering,
It can enhance our self-awareness,
Which will again have many benefits of its own.
We become aware of our thoughts,
Our feelings,
Our emotions and sensations.
And if we are aware of them enough,
If we are doing the work,
It can drastically again enhance the quality of our life,
The relationship with ourselves.
It can enhance our mind-body connection and again relationships with others and with the world.
So I hope that this list of benefits that I created for myself motivates you to incorporate the grounding and centering techniques into your life to perform them more regularly.
And I'm sure with a regular practice,
You will inevitably see the positive changes and results of it in your life.
Well,
For now,
Guys,
Let's take this time for some discussion,
For the questions,
Probably for your comments.
I am always open to feedback,
To knowing your side,
Your thoughts,
Before we move to the guided meditation part.
All right.
Well,
I think that probably everything is clear.
I assume that we are in sync.
And thank you,
Guys,
For just being here.
Even if you don't feel like speaking,
It's absolutely okay.
And once again,
I would like to thank Insight Timer,
This incredible platform that we all I'm sure are using for a long time and that brings us many benefits into our lives.
So I want to thank the platform.
I want to thank you guys for your presence and your donations are very welcome either during this live event or later.
It is a great motivator to continue hosting these free sessions for everyone for creating this safe space to connect with each other,
To learn and to grow together.
So thank you guys in advance.
And once again,
You will be able to find the recording of this live event as a talk in my profile.
So please subscribe.
Well,
And let's continue to our guided meditation.
It will take about 15 to 20 minutes,
I believe.
So create a comfortable space for you where you can feel calm and not disturbed.
You may practice sitting or lying down,
And I encourage you to keep your back straight yet relaxed.
Take a deep breath,
Sending the air into your belly,
Relaxing all the organs and muscles inside and with the out-breath.
With the out-breath,
Close your eyes.
Let go of any tension or distractions.
Simply focus on the present moment and allow yourself to take this time just for you.
Continue breathing naturally.
And feel the sensations in your body.
Notice the warmth of your blankets or your clothes.
The ground beneath you.
And pay attention to the movements in your body.
How your body is alive in this present moment.
And let's trace the way of the airflow that we are breathing in and out.
How the air,
The cool air,
Enters your nostrils,
Travels through your throat,
To your lungs,
Deep into your belly,
And goes up.
Leaving your body and allowing you to feel more relaxed and present.
Notice this movement.
The difference in the temperature of the air that you're breathing in and out.
And appreciate the feeling of calm that comes with each breath.
Notice that you do not have to control your breath anyhow.
And it happens naturally.
Your body is so wise.
Trust the process and enjoy it.
Imagine yourself standing barefoot on a lush green meadow.
Bathed in the sunlight of the morning sun.
Dewdrops sparkle on the grass.
And the air is filled with the sweet scent of flowers.
Take your shoes off and let your feet enjoy the freedom.
Step barefoot on the grass to feel the coolness of it.
To feel the dewdrops under your feet.
And the softness of the ground.
And the softness of the ground.
Let's connect with the elements around us.
Feel the cool,
Damp earth beneath your feet.
And imagine roots extending deep into the ground.
Drawing your strength and stability.
These strong roots grow deeper into the heart of our planet.
And nourish you at any moment of your life.
Breathe deeply and calmly.
Visualize a gentle stream flowing nearby.
Its clear waters reflecting the sunlight.
Listen to the vivid sounds of the stream.
Feel the energy of the water.
Cleansing and refreshing your body and spirit.
If it feels good for you,
Step barefoot into the stream to feel the freshness of the water.
Breathing the fresh and clean air of the meadow.
How it fills your lungs and revitalizes your body.
And allow all the alchemy processes happen inside of you because of this connection.
And imagine yourself surrounded by a soft light.
Representing the universal energy that connects all the living things.
Feel grounded to the earth,
Being here and now.
And feel the connection to the natural world.
See yourself as a part of something much larger than yourself.
Now,
No thoughts or worries exist in this moment.
Continue breathing deeply and mindfully.
Focus on the sensations in your body.
Allow yourself to experience whatever it is right now without labeling it or categorizing it into something positive or negative.
Be aware of the sounds around you.
Perhaps you hear birds singing,
Some animals playing,
The stream running next to you,
The wind playing with the leaves and with your hair.
And notice the beauty of nature.
Find your favorite details around and feel thankful for them.
Let the earth's energy flow through you.
Through your whole being,
Providing a sense of stability and support.
Notice how your experience changed from the beginning of this meditation.
How your breath might have changed.
Perhaps your body feels a bit more relaxed.
Your heartbeat is slower.
Your body feels a bit more relaxed.
Your heartbeat is softer.
Whatever it is,
Appreciate everything happening with you and for you in this moment.
Feel the gratitude expanding from your chest to all of your surroundings.
Gratitude for this safe space in nature,
For the whole world,
For your connection.
Gently bring your attention back to your body,
The present moment and your current surroundings.
Take a few deep breaths,
Feeling the sensations that are present right now and the peacefulness that you created.
Remember that this safe space,
This connection,
This support of the earth is always with you.
And you can effortlessly return to this state whenever you want.
And carry the positive energy and connection with the nature and yourself that you have cultivated during this meditation throughout your whole day.
And let this experience be a source of grounding,
Inspiration and well-being.
If you guys are ready,
Please open your eyes and come back to our space.
Thank you so much for practicing with me.
And I would be very happy to know your experience with this meditation,
Your feedback,
Perhaps the changes that you might have noticed.
You are very welcome to share in the comment section.
