Lately, I've been finding myself wanting to abandon some challenging feelings that have been coming up. Have you ever felt this? It's like we start to feel things that are uncomfortable and then immediately we want to leave. We want to abandon ourselves and avoid the things swirling within us by numbing ourselves from experiencing those feelings altogether. My friend, I believe the greatest act of self-love is doing the very opposite. It's choosing to stay and be with ourselves. It's observing our thoughts and feelings with curiosity and compassion so we might gain a deeper understanding of ourselves. Let's do that together in this meditation.

This meditation is really simple,

It's a check-in.

So often when there's a lot going on or our hearts and our minds feel really really heavy,

We tend to want to avoid.

We tend to want to distract ourselves from our feelings,

Especially when the emotions are really intense.

So this meditation is just for you to get quiet and sit with it.

Sit with all that you feel.

This is an act of self-care.

If you'd like,

You can get really cozy.

Maybe you wrap up in a blanket or grab a couple pillows and allow this meditation to be really soothing on your nervous system.

Begin to enter into your heart through your breath.

Breathing in gently,

Exhaling.

Breath in,

Let it go.

Start to become aware of your feet.

Feeling grounded and steady right here.

Bring awareness to the parts of your body that are held by whatever's holding you.

Feel the connection,

The support.

Feel your heart open and your shoulders drop,

Welcoming yourself into you.

Breathe in,

Exhale.

Every breath is a little less avoiding and a lot more acknowledging.

Making your way to you.

Slowing down enough to really hear what's going on within.

Just listen.

Really gently asking yourself,

How am I really?

Getting really honest with yourself in this moment.

How are you really?

What's going on?

How are you feeling?

Breathe in slowly,

Exhale.

AmberLion writes,

How do we take better care of ourselves?

By slowing down and taking time to listen.

By checking in with yourself and hearing what that voice has to say.

Does it feel safe?

Does it feel heard?

What does it need right now that you could give it?

Slow down and listen.

Breathe in,

Exhale.

What feelings are asking to be felt?

Can you just feel them?

Just let yourself really,

Really feel them.

Allowing your breath to really soothe you and support you.

Inhale,

Exhale.

Take a moment to be really proud of yourself for taking the time to check in.

It's the ultimate form of self-love and care.

Taking time to check in,

To listen,

And love on what you find.

Wrapping your arms around you,

Giving yourself a hug if that feels okay.

Just holding yourself and whisper to yourself,

I love you.

I am listening.

I am here for you.

I love you.

I am listening.

I am here for you.

Breathe in,

Exhale.

Noticing the shift within you.

Notice how good it feels to know that you are cared for by yourself.

That you took the time to check in on yourself.

Notice how your energy has shifted.

How your heart feels.

A little more supported and accepted.

Be kind to yourself.

Be gentle.

Be kind to your mind and go slowly.

Let's take one more breath together.

Inhale,

Big exhale.

From my heart to yours.
