This guided breathwork journey will help you connect to a younger version of yourself that needs care and compassion. Whether it’s the inner child, teen, or young adult, witnessing these parts and acknowledging them with acceptance and validation helps to free us from the choices, beliefs, and habits that keep us tied to our wounds. Breathwork helps to shift our attention from the busy thinking mind and access the subconscious with less resistance, rewiring the nervous system to release the heavy energy of the past. In this practice, you will use a conscious connected breath before moving into a guided visualization to connect compassionately to your younger self.

Welcome to this guided breathwork journey to connect to your younger self.

Before we begin I invite you to find a comfortable space to rest.

This practice is best done lying down.

If that isn't accessible to you,

You can remain seated.

But please make sure that you are supported and safe as it's common to feel physical sensations with breathwork.

This breath practice isn't suitable for those who are pregnant,

Have a heart condition,

High blood pressure,

COPD or a history of seizures.

If this applies to you,

It may be best to sit this one out.

The intention for this guided breath journey is to help you connect to a younger part of you that perhaps needs some care and attention.

Whether it's the inner child,

The inner teen,

Or a younger adult version of ourselves,

Meeting the part that is asking to be seen and validated is how we address the needs that weren't met and free ourselves from the choices,

Habits and beliefs that keep us tied to our wounds.

Breathwork allows us to move from the busyness of the thinking mind that can prevent us from listening to what calls to be acknowledged and access the subconscious with less resistance and rewire the nervous system into releasing the heaviness of the past that lives in the body.

Connecting to a younger part of us can feel challenging especially if they felt rejected.

This can lead us to go on to reject aspects of ourself unconsciously.

Shame is the barrier that can prevent us from meeting ourselves more deeply.

You are not bad,

Broken or weak and you never were.

It's time to liberate yourself from these beliefs that have kept you stuck and give yourself the compassion and acceptance you are so deeply deserving of.

So for this practice we will be using a conscious connected breath.

Breathing in through the nose and exhaling out through the mouth.

We want this breath to be audible and minimize any spaces between the inhales and exhales.

The depth and pace of the breath is up to you.

Honor your experience and release the desire to push yourself.

Healing does not happen by force.

It's completely normal to feel resistance in the beginning and for the breath to maybe feel a little bit rigid.

As you move more deeply into the practice the breath will begin to flow with more ease.

With this type of breath work we are activating the nervous system and changing the body's chemistry.

So it's normal to experience physical sensations such as buzzing,

Tingling,

Lightheadedness or temperature changes.

This is perfectly safe and I encourage you to stay with the breath to the best of your ability but remember if you need to pause or slow down you always have choice to do so.

You may also experience emotional release,

Tears,

Laughter,

Yawning or chills.

Whatever does or does not happen trust the medicine of the practice and your body's process however it may look.

Let's begin.

Become aware of the support beneath you,

Holding your body,

Sensing the points of contact where the surface meets your body and allow yourself to release more fully into that anchor of steadiness.

Noticing where you might be holding or clenching and allowing yourself to soften.

Unclenching the jaw,

Softening the forehead,

Dropping the shoulders.

Nothing to do and nowhere to be but right here.

Allowing yourself to be supported,

To be held,

To be here.

As you begin to move your awareness to that inner landscape,

Noticing the sensations without judgment,

With curiosity,

Observing with compassion any areas,

Points of tension or tightness and moving that awareness now to anywhere in the body that feels expansive,

That feels soft or grounded.

Honouring the duality of your experience physically and emotionally.

Moving your awareness to your breath now,

Watching as it moves in and out the body like a wave and in your own time beginning to deepen that breath in through the nose and elongate that exhale out through the nose.

Inviting in a more conscious and expansive breath,

Placing one hand on your heart and using this mantra as an anchor throughout this practice.

I am enough,

Always.

Allowing yourself to keep an open heart and open mind as the breath evolves and we begin to bring in a more conscious connected breath.

Breathing in through the nose and exhaling out through the mouth.

Keeping a conscious effort behind this breath,

Finding your depth,

Your pace that feels right for you.

Stay with that breath.

I am enough,

Always.

And trusting that your efforts here today in this practice are enough,

However that may look.

And as your body begins to take in more oxygen with these conscious connected breaths,

You may be feeling some physical sensation already.

It is safe to breathe this way.

Your body is doing exactly what it's supposed to,

Remembering that you have permission,

You have choice,

You have control.

But stay with that breath.

You've got this.

Releasing the need to achieve or perform in this practice.

Releasing perfectionism.

All you have to do is breathe.

Trust the process.

Trust your process.

I am enough,

Always.

Allowing this conscious connected breath to shift your energy as you breathe in spaciousness and allow that breath to cleanse,

Clear out and release on that exhale.

Letting the mind loosen its grip and letting the body and the breath show you the way.

Let each breath be an invitation to move closer to the truth of who you are beyond the limitations,

Beyond the beliefs,

Beyond the fears.

And remembering I am enough,

Always.

Listening to the nudges and the wisdom of your body.

How does it want to breathe?

How does it want to move?

Perhaps releasing sound with that exhale,

Giving the breath a voice.

Let your body be your guide.

As we meet the halfway point with this conscious breath,

Can you go just a little bit deeper?

Can you breathe with just a little bit more intention?

I am worthy of my own love,

My own validation,

My own acceptance and my own compassion.

I can give myself what I've always needed.

I'm ready and willing to meet myself more deeply.

I know that when I do,

I will feel the peace and connection that I am seeking.

I am enough,

Always.

Meeting anything that may be arising with tenderness,

With care.

Giving yourself permission to release the struggle,

To release the past.

Each exhale is an invitation to let go of the burden and heaviness.

That these past versions of you have been carrying for too long.

Beautiful job my friends,

Staying with this conscious breath for one more minute.

I can be the person that these younger versions of myself needed.

I can be the love and connection that they seek.

Breathing in,

I am enough.

Breathing out,

I am always enough.

Slowing that breath down as we get ready to release this conscious connected breath.

We'll move into a gentle breath hold.

So in your own time,

Taking one last deep breath in through the nose and as you exhale out,

As you let go,

Holding at the bottom of the exhale.

Softening into this pause,

Into this stillness.

Complete embodied awareness.

As you notice sensation,

Movement and stillness and peace.

Enough,

Always.

And if you haven't already,

Taking in a nice deep breath in through the nose.

Holding for a moment at the top,

Gathering up all that beautiful energy.

As you exhale and return to your natural way of breathing.

Observing the body,

Observing your experience.

And taking a moment to be present with yourself.

As the body and mind begin to settle,

We will now open and clear the path to connect ourselves more deeply and offer our love and support to any part that may be seeking comfort and safety.

Start to visualize yourself in a favourite place in nature.

It could be somewhere you've visited many times.

Or it could be a place created entirely by your imagination.

Looking around and taking in what you notice.

As you take in the space and sights around you that bring a sense of peace and comfort to your being.

You notice a small figure in the distance.

You approach them with curiosity.

And as you bridge the distance with each step forward,

You feel a sense of familiarity the closer you get.

They turn to greet you and you are met with a familiar and younger pair of eyes looking back at you.

Your eyes.

This younger version of you has been waiting to see you.

It almost feels like a homecoming as you take them in.

Their mood.

Their energy.

Appearance.

You ask to sit with them.

You let them know that you are here to listen to their fears,

Concerns or whatever is on their heart and mind with compassion.

Letting them know there is no judgement here.

Only love.

You notice a sense of relief wash over them with these words that you offer.

A reassurance that they needed to hear as they begin to share with you what is on their heart and mind.

You listen and witness.

Soothing any doubts they may have around being vulnerable with you by telling them I love you and I'm listening.

And acknowledging any hurt or pain that may have been caused by not receiving what they once needed.

Letting them know that you are here now to take care of them.

To look out for them.

To protect them and to keep them safe.

And offering any other words of support and even asking what they may need to feel safe,

Seen or validated.

Offering this version of you a loving gesture of support by placing both hands on the heart.

And holding them with a loving reverence.

You are enough.

Always.

I see you.

I hear you.

I accept you as you are.

It's okay to feel the way you do.

You didn't deserve what you went through and I'm sorry it happened.

You don't have to do this alone anymore.

I'm here to protect you.

I'm going to take good care of you.

I love you.

And you have full permission to be you and follow your joy.

Letting this part of you receive the medicine of these words and keeping them safe in your heart.

Assuring them I love you and I'm listening.

Releasing this connection with them visually but keeping them close to you.

Trusting the echoes of this practice today will continue to be felt and integrated.

Connecting with the support beneath you.

Holding you.

Feeling the temperature of the air around you.

As you start to guide your senses back into the present moment and into the physical space you are in.

In your own time,

Begin to bring some slow mindful movement back into your body.

Wriggling the fingers and toes.

And eventually making the movements bigger in your own time by having a stretch.

Circling the ankles and wrists.

And whenever you are ready,

Slowly opening the eyes.

Taking in your surroundings.

Moving the eyes slowly around the space as you come back into the here and now.

Taking one deep cleansing breath in through the nose.

And exhaling out through the mouth.

I encourage you to return to this practice regularly.

To keep establishing that sense of connection to these younger parts of you.

Over time this will help to strengthen your internal sense of safety,

Trust,

Boundaries.

And build more self-worth and capacity for joy and creativity.

Sending you love and healing.

Thank you for listening.

Beautiful. Gentle and assured guidance. Expert production and music. I felt so moved, taking the headphones off noticed tears on my cheeks. We all need to have compassion for ourselves and others but I've never considered my younger self. While younger me is who I've become. I'm going to practice this again. Thank you so much for all the hard work and knowledge you've poured into making this meditation.
