Breath of Peace allows you to find calm, utilizing your natural breathing rhythm. This short meditation uses deep diaphragmatic breathing with an open airway to calmly drift from one breath to the next.

Breath,

Our great vehicle to new states of being,

Has been used from the earliest wisdom traditions to the new scientific developments in wellness.

Today we will reconnect with our natural breath and access our calm with breath of peace,

Giving us the highest quality of breath and facilitating a sense of serenity.

This natural technique triggers your parasympathetic nervous system and provides that feeling of peace you seek.

Because this is your natural rhythm,

You already have the skills necessary to achieve this method.

I will simply reintroduce you to it.

Before we begin,

Take a moment to find comfort.

Once you've found comfort,

Sink in and find just a little more.

Gently bring your attention to your breath.

Witness it as it comes in and leaves again.

Allow it to stay comfortable.

Notice as your breath becomes a little slower and a little deeper.

Allow your shoulders to fall and your neck to relax.

And with each slow deep breath in,

Notice the breath sinking farther and farther into the belly.

As we begin to lengthen the space between breaths,

Allow for a gentle relaxed pause rather than a hold,

Allowing your airway to remain open.

Continue breathing lower and lower,

Slower and deeper,

Allowing your shoulders to melt down and stay relaxed.

Imagine your breath as a gentle wave caressing the shore,

Reaching its furthest point and then simply fading away as it retreats back into the sea.

No identifiable beginning or end.

Merely a gentle rhythm.

Sit with this rhythm for just a moment,

Finding peace in the natural waves of your breath.
