Meditation Happens! Mann Nu Mouna
by Avani Pandya
Let’s create “Mann Nu Mouna” Silence within our mind. When we choose to create silence within, we try to make the external environment and our mental and physical self conducive to take steps towards meditation and allow meditation to happen! Meditation may happen when we truly create silence in our internal dialogue, within our mind ie: "Mann Nu Mouna.” In this meditation we create inner silence by brining awareness that there’s simply nothing out there for our mind to to get involved into!

You Some And that ultimately creates that chit-vritti-ni-rod we talked about and allows meditation to happen.
Always remember we are here together not meditating but going towards meditation hoping for meditation to happen.
To be in that gap,
To touch that inner divinity hoping to bring that inner wisdom,
Inner silence,
Inner divinity out to shine through when our mind is settled.
So let's go ahead and softly close our eyes.
Let's sit nice and tall,
Alert and awake,
Aligning us posture with the cosmos.
Creating this dynamic extension from the crown of your head being pulled towards the sky to the universe while our feet are firmly grounded,
Connected.
If you are sitting on a chair,
If you are sitting on a mat with your sit bones firmly grounded connected,
If you're lying down simply relax and connect to Mother Earth by giving all your emotional and physical weight just for the meditation purpose to connect with Mother Earth.
Again softly close your eyes,
Not squeeze,
Not scrunched and very gently as you relax your shoulders back and down bring right hand on to the chest left hand below and around our navel.
As you inhale let your belly rise,
As you exhale let your belly go in.
Inhaling and exhaling at your own pace,
At your own comfort.
Nice,
Smooth,
Effortless,
In and out through your nostrils.
Today we want to talk about Mananomaun.
That is silence of our mind,
Silence of our internal dialogue.
Mauna is verbal silence.
When we say man which is mind,
A chitta,
Creating the silence within our mind,
Within our internal dialogue,
Within our chitta,
Allowing that steadiness of rooties,
Chitta,
Rootie,
Nirod,
For allowing meditation to happen.
Continue with your breath,
In and out.
Simply observing our breath creates the silence in our internal dialogue,
In our mind,
In our mana.
So watch your breath and feel the silence.
So being with the nourishing incoming senses,
Watching,
Observing and experiencing that any of the five senses keeps you in the present moment,
Creates that silence within your mind.
So gently feel,
Experience,
Observe any of one senses.
But let's choose right now the sense of touch.
So feel,
Experience,
Observe the sense of touch wherever it comes to you.
Touch of your feet to mother earth,
Touch of your throat,
Touch of your nipples,
Touch of your palms,
Touch of your eyelids,
Touch of your lips,
Touch of your breath around your nostrils.
Settle at one of the touch.
Feel it,
Experience it,
Observe it and see how you're creating silence in your mind.
So very gently bring both your palms back to your lap facing up.
Another way to create internal silence,
Mananumon,
Is also to stay present with all the actions,
The smaller or the bigger.
Every interaction,
Small or big.
So when you stay aware and alert about your actions,
Feel those actions,
Be purposeful with those actions,
Be aware of those actions and interactions,
Then you do create inner silence.
Taking those actions with nourishment for higher purpose creates a beautiful silent internal dialogue.
So for a few seconds,
Bring awareness to your palms and very gently curl your fingers into your palms making a fist,
Opening and closing and be aware of this movement,
One of the actions.
Be completely present with it,
Without analyzing,
Without judging,
Experiencing the moment,
Being with the moment,
Being with that action and interaction with yourself.
When you stay present with all your action and interaction,
When you act and move with purpose,
Purpose for higher nourishment for yourself and others,
You create this beautiful mono,
Internal one.
Very gently,
Very gently let go of that moment,
Allow yourself to be steady.
When we move,
Our mind moves,
When our mind moves,
We move.
But when we move with full awareness,
When we act with full awareness,
Our mind is steady.
Because we are not moving and acting and interacting through mind,
Rather we are acting,
Moving and interacting through our awareness.
And that's why mind is steady.
Mind is steady,
There is mona of our mind.
Again,
Use your inner sight,
The sense of sight in the present moment,
As you watch your breath within trillions of cells,
From your crown of your head to your forehead,
Softly close eyes,
Tip of your nose,
Center of your chin,
Center of your throat,
Shoulders,
Elbows,
Wrists,
Palms.
Observe the sensation in your palms,
Back up to your elbows,
To your shoulders,
Center of your throat.
Feel the breath at your heart,
In your lungs.
Observe the action of your belly going in and out as you focus your breath towards your belly.
Throughout,
Know that we are creating silence of our mind as we are staying with our actions,
With our senses,
With full awareness in the present.
Down towards your legs,
Your knees,
Your ankles and again,
Feeling the connection with Mother Earth.
As you gently bring awareness to your entire body,
With trillions of cells inhaling and exhaling,
Gently settle at your forehead.
As you are at your forehead,
Watching,
Observing,
Feeling trillions of cells at your forehead inhaling,
Exhaling,
Relaxing,
Rejoining.
As you are observing your breath at your forehead,
If your attention is drifting into your thoughts,
Allow yourself,
Announce to yourself,
There is nothing to think about,
Nothing to believe,
Nothing to suggest,
Nothing to analyse,
Nothing to judge,
Simply nothing.
As you gently shift your awareness towards the base of your nostrils,
Simply staying at the present,
Watching your breath,
Knowing.
The easiest way to create silence within is to stay with your breath in and out.
Gently shifting your awareness towards your throat,
As you simply dwell in the vastness of your throat centre,
The spaciousness of your throat centre,
The element space,
Attribute of your throat centre.
Stay with this energy centre.
If you get drifted away into thoughts,
Into internal dialogue,
Announce yourself.
There is nothing to say,
Nothing to verbalise,
Nothing to explain,
Nothing to convince,
Simply nothing.
So as you gently shift your awareness at your heart centre,
Watching the expansion and contraction in the space in your heart centre,
Simply basking in the pure silence,
Pure awareness at your heart centre.
If your attention drifts into emotions,
Then announce yourself.
There is nothing to resent about,
There is nothing to be sad about,
There is nothing to acquire,
There is nothing to lose,
There is nothing,
Simply nothing.
As you gently move yourself,
Shifting the awareness,
At your solar plexus around your navel,
Create steadiness in your body.
If your mind gets drifted away to move,
Announce yourself for the meditation purpose.
There is nothing to react to,
Nothing to be done,
No movement,
No plans,
No goals,
No desires,
No intentions,
Simply nothing.
Just be.
So as you gently shift your awareness below the navel,
Be with the breath at the second energy centre.
Announce yourself.
There is nothing to regret towards past choices.
There is nothing to be guilty of,
There is nothing to be embarrassed about,
There is simply nothing.
So so and very gently shift your awareness towards your lower back at the base of your spine,
Tip of your tailbone.
Keeping your awareness,
Wherever it comes,
Lower back,
Base of your spine,
Tip of your tailbone,
Simply settling there.
So,
Announcing yourself,
There is nothing to worry about,
There is nothing to be fearful about,
Nothing to be frustrated about,
Simply nothing.
So gently shifting your awareness to your entire body,
Watching your breath wherever you settle,
Feeling the calmness and the silence of our mind,
Knowing and regarding each influence as an aspect of the attitude of the mind,
To maintain detachment towards it,
To observe it without judgment and analysis,
Knowing we are not our thoughts,
Not our mind,
Not a remote mind,
Not our emotions,
Not our body.
Creating this inner silence in our mind,
In our internal dialogue,
Allowing our true self to manifest our true nature,
The divine nature of pure silence,
Pure creativity,
Pure creativity,
Pure bliss.
Very gently,
Let's take couple of big inhale exhales with full awareness,
And very gently bringing both our palms with full awareness of that action,
As you place your palms together full awareness to the sense of touch,
As you rub your palms full awareness to the action,
And very gently,
Again awakening and being present with the sense of touch,
Sense of sight,
Smell,
Taste,
Being present with all the actions and the movements,
Being present with our interactions with ourselves and others,
Allowing our mind to cultivate that silence,
Allowing meditation to happen,
Allowing yoga,
The union of our mind,
Body and soul to happen,
Gently palms to your eyes and massaging from head to toe,
Again with full awareness at your own pace,
At your own comfort,
All the way to your knees and your ankles,
Back to your eyes,
And opening your eyes whenever you feel comfortable,
And though we have said there's nothing to be said,
Nothing to be done,
And that's regarding non-nourishing dialogues internal and external,
But if it's nourishing like saying I'm extremely grateful,
I love you all,
Then to express it.
Thank you.
Thank you,
Avani.
Thank you.
It was wonderful.
Thank you,
Avani.
That's the ultimate letting go session.
Thank you.
Thank you.
