Welcome,
I am Julie Skon,
And this meditation is for forgiveness.
I consider the act of forgiveness for ourselves or for others to be one of the most profound healing and life-changing practices that we can do for ourselves.
Michael Beckwith once said that lack of forgiveness is the greatest form of self-abuse.
When I heard that,
I felt it hit my core.
Why?
Because that means when we don't forgive,
We are actually holding the resentment,
Anger,
The shame,
And the pain that it brings.
We are carrying that in our energy,
In our bodies.
But when we choose to forgive,
And that doesn't mean that we are necessarily saying that the act that caused us pain is okay,
We are saying that we are no longer going to carry those hurtful feelings that it caused.
We are choosing through forgiveness to set them free,
To let them go,
To create space for the new feelings that we choose to carry and to embody.
So let's go into meditation to forgive,
To create this beautiful space for the new.
Settle into your space,
Get cozy,
Take a few rounds of deep inhales and exhales.
And as you do,
Powerfully acknowledge that today,
Starting right now,
You are stepping into forgiveness.
And when you're ready,
Gently close your eyes.
To begin,
Say out loud or in your mind what it is that you are ready to forgive.
Take a deep breath.
And now what are the feelings that you are holding,
That you are carrying,
That you are ready to release?
Again,
Say these out loud or in your mind.
And as you do,
Allow yourself to feel their release.
See them floating away.
With every exhale,
Allow your mind and body to let them go.
I will give you some space to do so.
In this new space you have just created within yourself,
What are the new feelings you are going to embody,
Starting right now?
We are going to move into the beautiful ancient Hawaiian practice of Ho'oponopono,
Which means to make things right.
The words of this meditation are,
I'm sorry,
Please forgive me,
Thank you,
I love you.
If it aligns with you in this moment,
Place one hand over your heart and one over your abdomen,
Guiding these words directly to yourself,
Slowly repeating them over and over.
I'm sorry,
Please forgive me,
Thank you,
I love you.
I will again give you some space to repeat these words in quiet,
To absorb the healing and balancing meaning of Ho'oponopono.
And one more time together,
I'm sorry,
Please forgive me,
Thank you,
I love you.
If you are ready to come back to this day or night,
Allow yourself to smile.
You have just embodied the art of forgiveness and that deserves a celebration.
Start to move your body,
Take a few more rounds of deep inhales and exhales.
Slowly open your eyes.
Thank you for meditating with me and for forgiving with me.
Today is going to be a beautiful day.
