Some days you do not need another plan or another solution. You just need a few quiet minutes to feel held, to soften what has tightened, and to remember what is already steady inside you. This meditation offers that kind of return, through breath, warmth, and a simple image of light that you can carry into the rest of your day. Take this time for yourself to let the light and gratitude fill your heart; you deserve this moment of calm. This track is from a live Journey You Own Meditation Gathering, so you may notice natural pauses and gentle references to shared practice.

Take a moment to notice your breath.

See where you feel its presence most strongly.

Might be the rise and fall of your shoulders.

You're at the depth of your belly,

Drawing the breath deep.

The invitation tonight is to connect with the breath,

However you feel most comfortable connecting with it.

Doing so draws your awareness to the present moment.

Focusing your awareness on the body and the experience of the body breathing.

Now bring to mind a visualization of a light.

This light can take the form of a yellow warm sphere.

The sphere is small,

External to you.

Now,

See it however you choose to see it as a ball,

As a flame.

It emanates a warm,

Soft light.

With your next breath,

Invite this warm light in through the nostrils into your face.

Feeling its warm glow relaxing the muscles of your eyes,

Softening your eyebrows,

Your forehead,

Relaxing your eyelids and the spaces right below your eyes.

This warm,

Soft glow continues to fill you,

Relaxing the muscles of your cheeks and your jaw,

Loosening any tension that you're holding in your mouth and your throat.

As you draw the light further,

Relaxes the muscles along the back of your shoulder and neck,

Casting its warm glow in the muscles and the spaces,

These areas that often carry so much tension.

The light continues to fill on the inhalation,

Your chest,

The area of your heart space and your ribs,

Bringing its soft glow to your internal organs.

Draw this light even deeper into your abdomen,

Your belly,

Down into your pelvis.

Its warm glow,

Relaxing and softening the muscles along your back,

Lower back and torso.

Invite this warmth and light into your legs,

Muscles that may not have an intention to hold you upright,

But using its energy into your lower legs and then all the way down to the soles of your feet,

Noticing its warmth,

Its glowing,

Perhaps even its pulsing.

Now bring that same light to those areas of your body that are still in shadows,

Such as your hands and your arms,

Drawing in the warmth so that they too are filled that external visualization of the light.

Experience your entire body glowing brilliantly,

Emanating light.

Take this light,

Now offer it as gratitude by bringing to mind all that which you're grateful for in your life and offer this same light to the beings,

Objects,

Experiences for which you have immense gratitude.

You might see these beings filling with light and warmth themselves,

Your surroundings also being filled with this light.

It's time of generosity.

Notice if there is some being that perhaps needs some extra attention.

Notice what it feels like to generate this warmth and compassion for them.

Now gently allow any visualization to dissipate and rest in open awareness.

When you hear the bell,

I need you to take a few more deep breaths before returning to our time together.

Thank you.
