All my breathing exercises are science based and have been scientifically proven to work. With this breathing exercise you'll balance your energy and, if needed, instantly calm your nervous system down. You will activate your vagus nerve and increase your HRV to trigger your parasympathetic (rest & digest) nervous system. On the contrary, if you feel down now, this exercise will lift you up and reactivate your energy to navigate the rest of your day in a balanced, smooth way.

Welcome to a balancing breathing exercise.

For this breathing exercise,

We will use a breathing technique called ocean breath.

Ocean breath in yogic terminology is called Ujjayi.

To breathe ocean breath,

Just imagine for a moment that the palm of your hand is a mirror.

And now you want to try and go fog this mirror.

Just try it out for a second.

And now don't try to fog it,

But try to drag the fog into your mouth.

You get what I'm talking about,

Right?

Now we don't use our mouth to breathe for ocean breath.

We will use our nose.

So we'll try to make the same sound as when we fogged the mirror in our hand with our nose.

It'll sound like this.

That's ocean breath or Ujjayi.

Now for our balancing breathing exercise,

We will breathe in to the count of four and breathe out to the count of four using ocean breath.

And when you're ready,

I invite you to find a comfortable seated position with your spine straight and your chin parallel to the floor.

Shoulders are relaxed.

And once you found this very comfy seating position,

You can close your eyes.

Wonderful.

All right.

Get ready.

Start your first inhale ocean breath to the count of four now.

Four and out for four,

Eyes remain closed,

Breath is normal,

Body is relaxed.

Just take your time,

Observe for a moment how your body feels like,

How your system feels like,

If maybe something changed in comparison to before the breathing exercise.

And just remain there with yourself for a little longer.

And then once you're ready you can open up your eyes and come back to your surroundings.

I wish you a gorgeous gorgeous rest of your day and I'll see you soon.
