You are listening to the Motherhood Unstressed podcast and I'm your host Liz Carlisle.
Thank you so much for joining me for another guided meditation,
For taking the time to connect with your breath,
To settle and to turn off all of the outside noise that doesn't serve you.
The beautiful thing about meditation is that you can do it almost anywhere.
The point is to get settled,
To focus on your breath,
To calm your nerves and to connect back to who you really are.
The observer of the racing thoughts,
Something especially beneficial for meditation is the ability to observe our thoughts without getting attached to them.
And when you look at how important our thoughts are in everything,
Then you begin to see how crucial it is to be able to direct those thoughts in ways that you desire.
Meditating strengthens that ability.
Meditation gets you into a position of empowerment in your life.
So let's do it,
Shall we?
You can do this meditation lying flat on your back on your yoga mat or seated in a comfortable chair or sitting on a cushion with your legs crossed and your hands gently resting on your knees.
The point is to be alert,
But also comfortable.
Let's take a deep breath in together now through the nose,
Hold at the top and let it go through your nose.
Again deep breath in,
Hold out through the nose and you want to make your breath audible.
Hold out through the nose.
Again deep breath in,
Hold out through the nose.
Keep going.
The reason you want to make the breath audible is that it activates that parasympathetic nervous system response,
Which is your restoration,
Your rejuvenation.
It deescalates any feelings of stress or anxiety in your body.
Your body is following your breath.
Your body is trusting that your breath knows what's going on,
That there are no threats,
That you are safe.
Keep breathing one more time in,
Hold and out.
Return now to a gentle rhythmic breathing,
Nice and easy,
Nothing forced,
But you're also inhaling deeper than you probably would be normally.
And that's because most people don't breathe fully.
And when you have anxious thoughts,
Which most of us do,
You tend to have very shallow breathing,
Which only increases the anxiety that you were already experiencing.
So this,
What we're doing is a way to roll that back,
To bring you back to center,
To start your day or to slip off to sleep,
Rested,
Clear and calm.
Keep breathing as you take your attention to the top of your head and trickling down ever so slowly,
Slower than you would like.
Bring your attention down to each body part.
And as your attention passes your eyes,
Your nose,
Your mouth,
And so on,
I want you to focus on sending a green healing light to every cell.
And this energy comes from above you,
The horror line,
Which is your connection to your highest self.
And when you ask and visualize the healing and the light coming over,
Washing over every cell,
There is a physiological reaction in your body that takes place.
If you've heard of the placebo effect,
This is like that,
Where the power of the mind actually has the ability to heal and restore the body from within.
Keep going down,
Visualizing your healing all the way down until you reach the tips of your toes.
Focusing now on the inhalation through your nose,
Imagine that your breath is like a wave washing over you.
Feel your shoulders relax,
Feel your hips open,
Feel your worries wash away.
And if you like,
You can imagine your worries.
Imagine putting them on a leaf and putting the leaf into a river.
You watch your worries,
Your stress,
Your anxiety drift away through the bubbling water around rocks,
Past more trees and down out of sight.
As you do this,
You feel even more relaxed and present in your body.
You realize in this moment right now that you are held by a higher intelligence who loves you and supports you.
All you have to do is ask and anything you desire will come your way.
You realize that letting go of stress and anxiety is the fastest way to getting everything you want.
You may begin to see that what you thought you wanted wasn't actually what your soul was calling for,
But as we sit here together in meditation,
In community,
Breathing together,
Connecting to our higher selves,
Who you really are and what you're really here to do will be revealed.
I'll leave you now to ask whatever you need to ask to your highest self.
And when it's time,
I'll bring you back.
No.
You you you you you Come back into your body now Do some gentle neck rolls you can wiggle your fingers and toes roll your wrists Do some gentle stretches If you feel that anything important came through Write it down Don't let it slip away These are the whispers of your soul Your truth Which is always with you You can hear it and feel it when you get quiet like this Thank you for joining me Thank you for doing the work with all of us all over the world until next time namaste
