Elena Vysotskaya is an MBSR teacher and psychologist, empowering busy humans to make a difference via a more mindful way of life and self-discovery. Lesson 1

Coming To Yourself

Being busy is often the synonym for success, but it can also be misleading. There is one more option - being busy equals being stressed. Which idea is common for you? You may argue: “A little stress can be useful in boosting productivity and focus”. It is valid until it comes to prolonged stress, which can have a serious impact on the health and well-being of individuals and business outcomes. Today, we will be practicing focused awareness, which brings us into the here and now, so that we are conscious of what we are doing. Lesson 2

Being Busy

What does it mean to be ‘busy’? It means having a great deal to do. Being busy, we may feel like you have a lot going on. However, in reality, we are probably accomplishing very little! Today, we will practice how to rest our brains, coming to a new understanding of the difference between what is urgent and what is important. Ultimately, this approach will lead us to a better work balance. You are welcome to the practice.

Lesson 3

Being Productive

Busyness has to do with how we spend time. Productivity has more to do with what we accomplish. We do not need to be busy to complete something and get things done. This means we do not need to change what we do but how we do it Let us explore the practice of focused attention, which will help us direct our attention, become aware when our mind has wandered, and redirect our focus to what matters. No matter the situation, the ability to calm and focus a busy mind can be beneficial. You are welcome to the practice to discover moments of distractions and start changing the habit of doing one thing while thinking about another.

Lesson 4

Mental Multitasking

We all live in a busy world and many people view the “ability to multitask” as a strength. However, the truth is that multitasking is a farce: we cannot concentrate on multiple things at once. When multitasking, we are doing task switching: performing multiple tasks in rapid succession, which is disruptive and time-consuming. You are welcome to the practice focusing on the present moment, which means you can more effectively tune out unhelpful distractions and complete the tasks in front of you.

Lesson 5

Emotional Awareness & Self-Regulation

Our productivity is defined by our emotional state. If we have a bad morning (dealing with traffic jams, unpleasant weather, etc.), it has the potential to compromise our effectiveness all day. During today's practice, we will learn how to separate our conscious self from emotional reactions to become much more emotionally aware and gain the ability to regulate emotions. You are welcome to the practice.

Managing Stress & Anxiety

By practicing mindfulness regularly, we become less susceptible to feeling stress or anxiety in the first place. This is good not just for helping us stay on track in the moment, but also for staying in better physical and mental health over time. Active Listening & Engagement

When we practice active listening, we become fully concentrating on what is being said. Active listening has many benefits in your relationships. Preventing Burnout

Burnout is a state of emotional, physical and mental exhaustion caused by excessive stress. Feeling healthy and strong, we are less likely to become overwhelmed by stress and experience burnout. Work-Life Balance

Work-life balance is an important part of inner balance. It helps to flourish experiencing a healthy work and home environment, becoming a master of how time is spent. In case work-life balance is missing, we may experience burnout, feeling exhausted, overworked, and disconnected decreasing productivity. Today’s practice will help us to take a step ahead, taking time to become more familiar with who we are, beyond all the wanting and having and doing. Understanding ourselves helps us to identify which direction to go, what gives us meaning, and what actually makes us balanced, grounded, and happy. You are welcome to the practice

The Bottom Line
