This practice is designed to help you reflect on past experiences and emotions that may be holding you back,
And to foster forgiveness for yourself and others.
Find a comfortable and quiet place to sit or lie down.
Close your eyes gently and take a few deep breaths to center yourself in the present moment.
Begin by taking three deep breaths,
Inhaling through your nose and exhaling through your mouth.
With each breath,
Let go of any tension or distractions.
Feel yourself becoming more present and at ease.
Start by acknowledging that we all have experiences from our past,
Some of which may be uncomfortable or difficult.
Allow yourself to bring one such experience or negative emotion to mind.
Imagine that you are standing in a serene,
Open space.
As you reflect on this past experience or emotion,
Simply be aware of it.
Realize that these emotions or experiences are a part of your past,
But do not define your present or future.
Take a moment to reflect on this experience or emotion.
Allow yourself to feel any emotions that arise without judgment.
Recognize the individuals involved in this past experience.
Silently offer forgiveness to them by saying,
I acknowledge the role you played.
I forgive you for any pain or harm caused.
I release any resentment or anger towards you.
Feel a sense of forgiveness and compassion flowing from your heart toward them.
Now turn your attention to yourself.
Silently say,
I acknowledge my own feelings and reactions.
I forgive myself for any judgments or self-blame.
I release any burden of guilt or regret.
Allow self-forgiveness to envelop you with compassion and understanding.
Take a few moments in silence to reflect on the release of this past experience or negative emotion,
And the forgiveness offered to yourself and others.
Breathe deeply and let go of any residual tension or discomfort.
Allow yourself to feel lighter and freer.
As we conclude this emotional release and forgiveness meditation,
Gently bring your awareness back to your breath.
Take a few deep breaths,
Slowly reorienting yourself to the present moment.
When you're ready,
You can open your eyes.
