Good morning,
As we head into our day ahead,
Let's check in with the body,
And firstly,
Let's check in with our posture,
If you're seated,
Or on the cushion,
Making sure that the back is nice and straight,
A positive posture,
Imagining a piece of string from the bottom of the back to the top of the head,
We're just pulling that string taut,
Nothing too forced,
Just giving us that positive posture,
And as we settle into our environment,
Taking a note of the sounds that you can hear in the room,
Just connecting with this moment,
Through the experience of our senses,
And as we arrive into the day,
Taking that connecting breath,
That deep breath in,
Holding just at the top of the breath,
Just for a moment,
And that long slow breath out,
Noticing the body,
Relaxing on that out breath,
Let's go again,
Deep breath in,
Really filling the lungs,
Hold at the top of the breath,
And that long slow breath out,
Good,
In preparation for the day ahead,
Let's see how the body is feeling,
Noticing the feet,
Sensations of the energy from the blood,
Whizzing round the feet and the toes,
If you're sat,
Noticing the feeling of the feet pushing against the ground beneath us,
That feeling of groundedness,
Of connection,
As we work our way up the legs,
Noticing any tightness,
Any niggles that we may be carrying,
We're not wanting to judge or interact with these feelings in any way,
But just noticing,
Moving on,
As we work up the body,
To the back,
Slowly moving up the back,
An inch at a time,
Until we get to the shoulders,
Shoulders often a place where we can be carrying a little bit of tightness,
A little bit of daily tension,
We notice this more in the morning,
Just taking a kindly breath into that space,
Just allowing that tension,
That tightness to drop out of the shoulders,
And as we do,
Noticing how the body softens,
Feeling heavier,
Let's continue on our journey,
Around the body,
Going down the arms,
To the hands and fingers,
The hands and fingers can be very sensitive,
Noticing the,
Again,
The energy from the blood,
Whizzing around the fingers,
Those tiny little feelings that we often miss as we live our lives,
So busy,
And going back up the arms,
The back of the head,
And then over the top of the head,
To the brow,
Ensuring that the brow is relaxed,
And down the face to the jaw,
Jaw nice and relaxed,
Not clenched,
Noticing the tongue,
Relaxed in the mouth,
Not pressed against the roof of the mouth,
Just checking in now with the entirety of our body,
Body relaxed,
Softened,
Fully aware of the feelings within the body,
That feeling of touch,
Of contact,
Any niggles that we may be carrying,
Just noticing,
Being present with those feelings,
And now,
Let's bring our attention to the breath,
Start with the in-breath,
The coolness of the air as it enters our nose and mouth,
That spiral sensation as it goes down into our lungs,
And then on the out-breath,
The softness of the air as it exits the body,
That warmth,
That softness as it leaves our nose and mouth,
And keeping our attention on the breath,
That rise and fall of the body,
Those simple sensations of the coldness of the air,
And the warmth of the air as it exits the body,
If our mind starts to wander,
Gently bringing it back to the sensations of the breath,
Let's sit quietly for a few moments,
And as we head into the rest of our day,
Some simple positive words for us to carry with us as we go through the day,
Just for today,
I will give thanks for all life's many blessings,
Just for today,
I will seek the joy in the small things,
Just for today,
I will not worry,
Many blessings for the day ahead.
