This is a meditation on joy,
So allow yourself to find a comfortable seat that can look like sitting cross-legged with your spine rooted and long.
It can look like you lying down,
Your palms face up wide and your ankles laid open,
Ready to receive.
Or maybe you're seated in a chair with your feet firmly placed on the ground underneath you.
Allow yourself to lower your eyes and begin to bring your awareness to your breath as it moves in through your body,
Through your nose and exhaling completely.
On the other side of anger,
Sadness,
Grief,
Betrayal,
Or heartache,
Joy,
Awaiting to return you back to your equilibrium and back to the homeostasis that you naturally create with your intuitive knowing.
But somewhere along the way,
We misplace our joy.
We misplace our joy with short weekends,
Massive to-do lists,
And a host of other distractions that keep us feeling like there's never enough time.
There's never enough time.
And so we abandon things that naturally bring us joy,
Things that create a smile on our face that resonates with others.
Begin to bring your awareness back to your body,
Noticing any sensations that may arise at this time.
Begin to bring your awareness,
Your shoulders,
Allowing them to find space away from your ears,
Back of your neck,
Low back,
Mid-back,
Your right and left hips,
Your thighs and the backs of your legs,
Your shins,
Your ankles,
The soles of your feet.
And on the next inhale,
Imagine you are breathing in from the soles of your feet,
Allowing that to travel up through your body,
Beginning to expand as it travels up through the ribcage,
Eye,
Hips get rooted,
The back of the neck,
Finding length and expansion in the body.
And then on the exhale,
Release,
Often.
And on the next inhale,
Imagine you are breathing in from the soles of your feet,
Allowing this breath to move slowly up the body,
Lengthen the hamstrings,
Expanding in the ribs,
Creating space in the back of the neck,
And finding a release,
The top of the head,
Releasing the attachments of rejection,
Disappointment,
Fear,
Self-sabotage.
All of the things that attempt to keep you bound,
That old,
Outdated self that no longer serves you,
That old,
Outdated version of you,
And begin to envision a new you,
New version of yourself,
And envision that it's wrapped in joy,
Rooted in confidence,
And secure.
For instance,
What would it be like to experience that version of you?
Because the truth is,
At any time in our lives,
We can switch timelines.
We can release the old,
Shift into the new,
Through our breath,
Through our words,
Through our thoughts,
Through our actions.
In this moment,
Know that it's free to release,
Free to let go of the things,
The shackles that have kept you bound.
If it feels good,
You can place one palm in the center of your chest,
The place where the magic of who you truly are resides,
And one palm over your navel,
Acknowledging your intuition,
And simply begin to breathe in through the nose deeply,
Feeling the palm in the center of the chest rise.
And on the exhale,
Release,
Noticing the low belly,
Palm collapsing a bit.
And continue to take a few more deep and complete breaths,
Just like that.
Knowing that at any time,
You can create time,
Come back to your knowing,
Come back to your sacred self,
And to release anything that attempts to keep you bound and connect with your internal joy.
