So welcome to this mindfulness space.

It's an invitation into rest,

Into spaciousness,

Into a quality of grounded,

Centered being.

And of course we don't always start off with these qualities.

Sometimes a bit overwhelmed,

Distracted and maybe some feelings of vulnerability or down or hurt or you know these human challenges that we all face.

Quite normal.

So on the face of it we just say,

Yes,

Okay,

Here you are.

As we invite this process of wholeness and access and availability to peace and ease,

Play,

Okayness,

A place to breathe,

Find respite and rest.

These qualities of course will make themselves known to us because something in us already knows about them.

Resting in the pause as we drop down,

Sensing contact with the earth,

The ground,

Through our feet or shoes or socks or through the seat and if we're laying on the mattress or settee,

Body connecting to the earth,

Grounding and earthing.

Resting here briefly with these sensations of touch,

Pressure,

Warmth perhaps,

As the body begins to entertain itself more fully,

Becoming available perhaps to the shape of your body from the skin's perspective,

Letting it rest in itself,

Softening and soothing,

Comforting,

As the skin softens and the muscles soften in different areas,

In their own way and own time.

With each in and out breathing,

The body breathes from this grounded place.

And as the body breathes naturally and organically,

Breathing in a kind awareness,

A warm awareness to keep us company,

A compassionate awareness even,

A quality of well-wishing and love,

With each in and out breath.

And there's more,

Perhaps allowing the hands and fingers and thumbs to soften,

To unfurl so to speak,

They can often be bunched up or clenched,

Softening and opening,

Comforting and soothing,

Noticing what your hands are being touched by,

And the shoulders might like to drop down slightly,

Softening and soothing down,

With each in and out breath,

It's a soft and gentle breathing,

Full of care,

And the jaw dropping down slightly,

Softening,

The lips softening,

Perhaps separating slightly,

Inviting the whole body to soften and soothe,

With each in and out breath,

A kindly breathing,

A warm awareness,

Flowing in and flowing out,

And the eyes softening,

The forehead smoothing out,

And again sensing the feet on the ground,

The body on the chair or surface,

As it rests more fully in itself,

It's visceral,

Compact sense of itself,

Letting the body rest in the breathing,

In a natural organic way,

And we can invite in a sense of kindness,

To continue or begin,

Perhaps having an attitude of care,

Of tenderness,

Of softness,

Towards whatever's within us,

And we might have an image to support this quality of well wishing,

Of kindness,

Maybe a bud where the heart is opening into a flower,

Blooming very gently,

The petals a beautiful colour,

Soft,

Radiant,

Opening out,

With a scent and a colour permeating the whole body,

The colour and scent of kindness and love,

Radiating out through the whole body,

Bringing care and kindness and love,

Warming,

Healing,

With each in and out breath,

Allowing this love and kindness to rest and flourish,

In every cell of your body,

With each in and out breath,

Letting it all rest in itself,

And inviting the body to sense around it,

Perhaps hearing the sound of these birds,

Resting with the sound of these birds,

And any other sounds that are apparent near you or far away,

Sensing the space around you,

Beyond the four walls,

Up through the canopy of the trees,

Beyond the clouds into the blue or dark night,

Out into that glorious universe of galaxies,

Constellations,

That sea of diamonds,

Glittering their light down,

Offering more healing and wellbeing,

As we breath in and out,

Inviting the whole body to rest in itself,

Resting in this sense of spaciousness,

In the glorious sound of birds and whatever's here,

And all the stars beyond,

Keeping us company,

And very gently approaching whatever's alive in you,

Some feeling tone,

Some mood,

Something there,

And we offer it this supportive kindness and care,

This sense of being grounded and spacious,

To keep it company,

So it can draw on these resources for its own healing and wellbeing,

And we can say hello to that there in us,

Hello,

In a very gentle way,

Being friendly to anything within us that needs this friendliness,

From this grounded,

Spacious,

Whole sense of ourselves,

And we know these feelings within us are all telling us we have met needs or unmet needs,

For safety and security,

For peace,

Healing and wellbeing,

For care,

Kindness and compassion,

For autonomy,

Authenticity,

For joy,

For humour and play,

The light touch,

For love and closeness,

For meaning and growth and purpose,

For autonomy,

Connection and friendship,

Taking time now to take a complete holiday,

As you move into your daily life,

Inviting these qualities of presence and openness,

Groundedness and spaciousness,

To remain with you.
