
Releasing The Past - Living In Present Moment Awareness

It’s almost impossible to enjoy your life fully if your emotions remain tied to old past events… If you realise that you carry the past with you in your everyday life, it's time to release what no longer serves you… to take the learnings from old painful situations and experiences, and let the rest go. I'll guide you into a deeply relaxed state, then give you powerful suggestion about releasing and letting go of old hurts and pain, accepting that the past is over - living much more fully and completely in your present with energy fully available to you… open to new experiences, new enjoyments… available and open to life!

So as we begin now,
Please make yourself comfortable.
Simply sitting back or lying back in a comfortable position.
Your arms loose and limp beside you.
Your legs uncrossed.
And now choose a spot up above you.
And focus your eyes on that spot.
Keep your eyes focused on that spot as if your eyes are fixed there to that spot.
Nothing else matters.
It's as if nothing else in the room exists.
Your eyes hold that spot.
In a moment,
Take the first of three long deep breaths.
And as you exhale the first breath,
Think to yourself,
Relax now.
Then a second long deep breath in.
And as you exhale,
Relax now.
And as you exhale the third breath,
Think relax now.
And allow your eyes to gently close.
And as your eyes close,
Just feel the relaxation spreading down through your body.
And every time that I say the words relax now,
Instantly you relax even more deeply.
As if the relaxation is doubling throughout your body.
Taking you more deeply into deep peaceful relaxation.
Relaxation that is wonderful for your body.
Relaxation that is wonderful for your mind.
And just imagine now that all the muscles around the back and the sides of your head are just easing off.
They're becoming loose and limp and relaxed.
Just easing off.
The relaxation spreading out across your scalp,
Your forehead,
Out across your eyebrows,
And out across your eyelids.
And you give in to this feeling.
And you relax now.
As the relaxation spreads.
As the relaxation increases within you.
But still you hear the sound of my voice.
As I talk to you in this way,
Nothing else matters.
It's as if my voice is in the forefront of your mind.
And as the muscles of your eyebrows and your eyelids relax,
The relaxation spreads further across your nose and out across your cheeks.
Your entire face is softening now.
Any tension simply easing away so easily.
Muscles of your mouth and lips relax now.
As the muscles of your chin and your jaw become loose and limp.
Limp and relaxed.
As you relax,
Such a good feeling.
Such a good feeling.
And as the relaxation spreads down through your neck and your throat,
You give in to this relaxation.
Any tension leaving you now.
The relaxation spreading out across your shoulders.
And as your shoulders soften and relax,
Any old tension is releasing.
You are becoming more and more relaxed.
The relaxation flowing down your spine,
Deeper and deeper and deeper.
From your upper back,
Down deeper to your middle back.
Head down into your lower back.
Relax now.
And as you relax in this way,
It's as if every group of muscles is just easing off.
The relaxation flowing down your upper arms.
The relaxation flowing around your elbows.
As you relax now.
The relaxation flowing through your forearms,
Through your wrists,
Down into your hands.
The relaxation flowing through the palms of your hands,
Through your fingers,
Right to the tips of your fingers.
And with every easy breath you breathe,
The muscles of your chest and your diaphragm relaxing so easily,
So completely.
Every breath taking you to a deeper level of relaxation.
As you relax now,
The relaxation spreading down into your stomach,
Into your pelvis.
The relaxation flowing so easily,
Effortlessly.
Like a gentle tide of relaxation spreading down,
Down,
Through your body,
Effortlessly.
You are becoming so deeply relaxed.
The relaxation flowing down your knees,
Around your knees.
Relax now.
The relaxation spreading through your calves so easily,
Gently and effortlessly.
The relaxation is flowing down into your ankles.
More as the relaxation spreads into your feet.
Your feet feel so relaxed.
As the relaxation spreads fully into your feet,
You understand that you have made such an important decision.
A really important decision.
You've decided to let go of the past.
Because you're ready to let go.
You've decided to let go of the past.
A period of time perhaps in your past,
Or a particularly traumatic event or relationship.
You've decided to let go of the past.
You've made a conscious,
Clear decision with your conscious mind that it's time to move on.
You've made a conscious,
Clear decision with your conscious mind that it's time to move on emotionally.
You know that it's time to move on emotionally.
You've decided to stop holding on.
To stop holding on to those old,
Outdated feelings.
You're tired of going over and over the old events.
And so you stop.
You simply stop.
You stop reliving any old hurts.
Any old pain.
And in deciding to let go of the past,
You realize that certain past difficult events are part of your story.
But they're not the whole story.
They are certainly not the whole story.
And increasingly your mind remembers wonderful experiences and positive events of the past.
It's as if many forgotten enjoyments of the past are now gradually being recalled.
Just floating gently to the surface now and then in a way that allows you to smile.
As you recall,
Positive people,
Nice events,
Small treasures of memories,
And more significant wonderful times.
They are all there for you.
They are all there.
And they all belong to you.
And you've decided to live more fully in your present.
To fully enjoy the life that you have.
And to grow it and develop it.
To expand your life.
To be the very best that it can be.
The past is over.
And you keep the best of the past.
And you release any old pain,
Any old unpleasant events,
Any trauma.
And each day and every day,
You are living much more fully in your present.
And you have your future.
And you are not your story.
And your story is not you.
The past is over.
And in accepting that the past is over,
You're changing the things that can be changed.
Accepting those things that cannot be changed.
You are taking the useful learnings from the past and hold the learnings.
And you release the past.
And if you think of a past situation or a past decision,
You reflect upon it and then you take the learnings from it.
And you keep the learnings.
They are stored in your subconscious mind.
And you release the past.
You release those old moments of pain,
Of fear,
Of hurt,
Of upset,
Of grief.
They have been part of your life.
But they are over now.
They are over now.
They are in the past.
And the past itself is over.
In releasing yourself from the ties of the past,
You move on emotionally.
You move on emotionally,
Fully and completely,
So that you feel so much more free and so much more open and spacious.
Open and spacious.
Open to new experiences.
New learnings.
New enjoyments.
New thoughts.
New people.
Your mind open to new ways of being.
New positive ways of being.
New positive ways of thinking.
Your heart is much more open to new feelings.
New clean pages of your life story.
Opening to be filled with joy.
With wonderful experiences.
Wonderful people.
And each day and every day,
You feel so much more fully present in your life.
It's as if you awaken each morning feeling so much more free.
A whole new day awaits.
Another day in your present.
And you enjoy it.
You find meaning in it.
You find a sense of wonder in it.
You revel in it.
A whole new day is beginning.
And as you move through each day,
You feel much more at ease within yourself.
You feel so much more relaxed in your physical body and in your emotional self.
And you appreciate the sense that you are living much more in the now.
In this moment.
And if ever an old memory is re-triggered,
You notice that you feel so much more calm in response.
You feel much more calm,
A more neutral response.
You notice the memory.
It was once very important to you.
But then you comfortably move your attention on to something else.
And you continue on with your day or your evening.
You feel emotionally free.
And so you feel emotionally present by being free of the tasks.
You have energy to give to goals,
Particular intentions,
Things that you intend to do,
That you intend to achieve.
And as you feel more and more free of the past,
Day by day,
You have so much more energy available to you.
Physical and emotional energy and vitality to do the things that you need to do.
The things you really want to do.
Free.
The past is over.
And you fully understand and realize that when we hold on to the past or live in the past,
We are limited.
Limited and restricted by our thoughts and our beliefs.
And when we choose to move on,
We feel so much more free to create the life that we deserve and desire.
And you know that everyone's life will always have a measure of suffering.
Knowing that human suffering is universal also allows you to move on.
Very few stories are actually original.
They are also other people's experiences.
And knowing this allows you to move on.
And if there is a situation in your past that requires forgiveness in order for you to let go,
You reflect on that.
You consider the cost of not forgiving.
And if you want to really move on,
Then you forgive.
You are changing the things that can be changed and accepting those things that cannot.
And each day you are feeling so much happier.
Each day you are feeling so much more empowered.
Each day feeling so much more free.
Lighter and happier emotionally.
Living your life in the present.
Positive and wonderful plans for your future and the path of your life.
It now feels more direct,
More clear,
Simpler somehow.
Your unique life path.
Your path.
Your own unique path.
And each time that you listen to my voice in this way,
You relax more easily,
More quickly,
More deeply.
Each time you hear the suggestions that I give you in this way,
The suggestions are becoming a stronger and stronger part of your mind,
Enabling you to achieve the goals that you have set for yourself.
So in a moment,
I'll just count you back to the room.
As I count the numbers from 1 to 5,
The energy is returning like a steady tide of energy back into your body.
So just beginning now at the count of 1,
Just begin to feel the energy coming back into your feet.
That energy slowly and steadily,
Steadily rising up through your body.
At the count of 2,
You are feeling gradually more alert and more aware.
There is a sense of energy returning more fully,
Steadily back into your body.
At the count of 3,
You take a long,
Deep energizing breath,
Increasing the energy that you feel.
At the count of 4 now,
Your eyelids are feeling lighter.
Your eyes beneath your eyelids are feeling more fresh.
You are more aware of your hands and feet,
More aware of your arms and your legs.
And you take another long,
Deep breath now,
The energy increasing within you.
And at the count of 5,
Your eyes open easily as you return back to the room fully and completely,
Feeling alert and fresh and clear,
Feeling wonderful.
And as you continue on with the remainder of your day or your evening,
You feel relaxed but fresh,
Really feeling wonderful within yourself,
Feeling happier,
Feeling good.
And this feeling remains with you.
It all belongs to you.
