The intention of this meditation is pretty practical.

Listening to the part that may want to stay in bed needs more rest.

Let's begin by settling in.

Find a comfortable position,

Seated or lying down.

Let your eyes gently close if that feels safe.

Bring awareness to your breath.

No need to change anything,

Just notice.

Inhale gently and exhale slowly.

Allow yourself to arrive,

And as you do,

Know that I encourage you to pause this recording if you need to.

Give your system the time and space that it needs.

Begin to notice any sensations in your body.

Greet yourself with a sense of warmth and curiosity.

Turn toward your inner world with gentle interest.

Invite a small drop of self-energy,

Calm,

Curious,

And open.

And if there's resistance to even just a drop of calmness or curiosity or openness,

Let those parts know that feel that,

That they matter too.

And as you continue to notice,

Bring to mind a recent moment when you wanted to stay in bed longer.

Let yourself feel into that memory.

Can you sense the part of you that craved rest?

Stillness?

Or escape?

Where do you notice this part in or around your body?

What does it feel like?

Is it heavy?

Tired?

Numb?

Take a moment to welcome this part.

Let it know that you're here and willing to listen.

And see if there's another part that responds.

Maybe one that judges,

Pushes,

Or feels anything.

Is it anxious about resting?

Where does this part show up in your body?

What tone or feeling does it bring?

Let both parts know you're not here to take sides,

You're here to understand.

See if you can sense an even amount of curiosity for both sides.

Letting them both know that they can have attention.

Or maybe they prefer you turn to one side and then the other.

Let them know you can do that.

Whatever makes sense most for you,

Ask gently,

What are you afraid would happen if I rested too long?

And just take a minute to let them both chime in.

See if they know who you are and that they're parts of you and they matter.

But they don't have to work so hard if they don't want to.

What are their fears?

What do they need from you?

Just see if there's anything else before we begin to wrap up.

They may be surprised that we're honestly just curious about them.

Let them know it's true.

You want to know them and they matter.

Thank both parts for showing up today.

Let the tired part that wants to stay in bed sometimes know you understand it might be protecting you from exhaustion or overwhelm.

See how it responds.

Let the pushing part know you see how hard it works to keep you from falling behind or being judged.

They're doing their best with limited roles.

They never chose in the first place.

But let them know that there's hope,

There's healing.

They don't have to believe it all,

But can they give you a chance to earn their trust a little more?

And if they're open to that,

Thank them and see if you can check in with them again soon and let them know when.

And as you expand your awareness,

Thank any parts that may have witnessed you spending time with these parts around.

Staying in bed and rest and achieving and work.

When it feels right,

Take a deep breath.

Let your exhale carry away any tension.

Feel the presence of yourself,

That calm,

Clear,

Compassionate core.

You don't have to resolve the conflict today.

Just holding space is enough,

And in some weird way it leads to a beautiful mystery of resolution.

Or maybe just a little resolution as we trust the process.

Then gently return to the present moment.

Wiggle your fingers and toes.

When you're ready,

Open your eyes if you close them.

Offer yourself a small smile and gratitude for showing up for your whole system.

And take this affirmation with you.

I'm learning to listen without rushing.

My presence is enough.

I'm learning to listen without rushing.

My presence is enough.

In today's capitalist hellscape, there's a lot of resistance to rest. Taking the time to look inside, I realize there's a lot of internal resistance to rest, too. Definitely something to delve into, and glad I took the time for this meditation to explore that! Will definitely be revisiting!
