When we're chronically ill, stressed, overwhelmed, and short on time and energy, it can feel challenging to do longer meditations. In this five-minute guided practice, we give ourselves permission to let go of tension in the body, stories in the mind, heavy emotions, and judgment. If you feel like you're carrying a lot of "stuff" in this moment, this practice will allow you to let go and lighten the burden. May this serve to reduce your suffering and the suffering of all beings everywhere.

Welcome to this guided meditation practice.

For the next five minutes,

We'll be centering together and intentionally letting go.

Letting go of any tension,

Anything that we're holding on to.

I invite you to find a comfortable posture,

Seated or lying down.

Closing the eyes,

If that feels comfortable,

Otherwise softening the gaze.

I offer the invitation to take two slow cleansing breaths,

Breathing in,

And as we exhale,

Letting go.

Allowing the breath to return to a natural rhythm,

Allowing the breath to breathe us.

We can let go of any control around the breath,

Gently bringing our attention to the crown of the head.

And letting go of any tension we might be holding from the crown of the head,

Down around the eyes,

Around the nose,

The cheeks,

The jaw.

Letting go of any tension,

Letting go around the ears,

Into the ear canal,

Letting go of any tension around the neck and the throat,

Down through the shoulders,

The arms,

The hands,

And each individual finger.

Letting go through the chest and the belly,

And letting go of any tension along the spine.

Letting go through the hips,

Down through the legs and the feet,

Gently turning our attention to the mind,

Just for this moment.

Letting go of any of our attachment to the stories and the images of the mind,

Creating space around our mental activity,

Letting go of any mental stories that don't serve us,

And very gently tuning into our emotions.

If we notice there are any emotions that we're carrying that maybe don't belong to us,

We've taken on from others,

Taking a moment to gently let go.

Noticing if we're carrying any judgment,

Judgment around our feelings,

Judgment to our bodies,

Our minds,

Very kindly letting go,

Letting go of the judgment,

Taking a moment to place a hand on the heart,

Offering well wishes,

May I feel safe in letting go of that which no longer serves me.

May I feel safe in letting go of that which no longer serves me.

Taking a slow cleansing breath,

May this practice support you and reduce your suffering,

And the suffering of all beings everywhere.

Thank you so much,

Many blessings.

Your voice is quickly becoming a familiar place of safety and comfort - helping me to trust and believe in the words and concepts you're sharing. (and the background music makes it all downright ethereal as well!) Thanks always.
