
Bypass The Happiness Merry-Go-Round

This is a practice that focuses on the consistent experience of happiness. It is easy to bypass the difficulties we encounter, by observing the mind, coming back to the heart & expanding into a space of connection with all parts of our being.

You you you you Please make sure that if there are any technical technological any sort of devices that may prevent you from being present to the transmission that they're turned off for that you're really able to Let go and be receptive to the transmission and I've been explaining and working with through meditational practice the awareness The practice of awareness that is required for Just being present to to this state of receptivity or openness that allows you to bypass the difficulty that's created when we're attached to certain situations belief systems or ideas or pictures that we've learned as the the sort of concept that we create as reality either through socialization or just through repetition and I've explained a little bit about how the brain works the limbic brain and the neocortex And how it's important not to fall into this instant gratification Situation that is created by the limbic brain where our desires get mixed up with the egoic level of thinking where desires and needs are Seen as the salvation or as the way to To be free so that we somehow can come back to some sort of happiness or equilibrium But of course,
We know all that doesn't work You will know this from your own experience that cake that you Want right now doesn't actually bring any sort of lasting happiness.
It actually brings sort of Disease to the body,
You know when you eat too much sugar or eat too much food or you Keep falling into the same trap.
There is this situation where there is a lack of equilibrium or a lack of Coherence in what you're doing because you're just basically being manipulated by your Desires and needs or by your impulses and to to follow certain patterns that We know from the history of humanity just will not bring about Emotional happiness or any sort of happiness so Knowing this what is the secret?
What is the very what is a very powerful way to somehow?
Bypass this mechanism that is so very inbuilt into our structure into our ways of Sort of interacting with the world with ours within ourselves and with other people the way that the brain has been structured because of perhaps evolution as as we know neuroscientists are speaking now about evolution creating certain patterns of thinking that Create negativity such as the negative bias,
Which is just part of our Our evolution so how do we bypass such things so that we can come back to state of equilibrium?
That is something that mystics have addressed forever and perhaps one of the most simple practices one of a very simple practice that you you can apply in your life and not apply from the space of Ego to okay.
This is a practice that I want to put into practice because it will make me feel better,
You know you never sort of follow that sort of need or desire to change things from another need or another desire But just because it's fun Because that's what spiritual practice is about creating a joy an excitement about what you do rather than just doing things because you're hoping that At one point you'll find some sort of happiness you'll fall into the sort of happiness Merry-go-round it doesn't work like that as we know so it's important that we do things because there is a sense of joy and excitement other than say I'll do these things because I'm something and perhaps if I'm if I outsmart my Brain in a certain way or if I outsmart outsmart my impulses or my sort of egoic level of thinking then perhaps i'll find something better Ego is too clever the monkey mind is just very very used to that sort of game and it will always outsmart your mind or your egoic As the egoic aspect of the mind will always outsmart your sort of clever maneuvers as as you know You know to come back to a state of happiness requires that you are happy Not that you are sort of creating smart plans as you are to come back to a state of happiness requires that you are happy not that you are sort of creating smart plans as to which method of coming back to happiness will sort of be tested today,
So as as you are because you understand this already i'm just sort of clarifying the importance of coming back to Your heart rather than coming back to your mind in meditational practice and when you come back to your heart as you're doing now As you let go of the mundane as you let go of those interesting plans or whatever mind situations that Create all sorts of excitements To the mind because it thinks okay i'll get this or i'll find this or i'll be happy because of this as you let all that go and you come back to the state of Heartfelt connection which simply means that you're coming back to your heart even if this coming back to your heart means that You come back to emptiness or you come back to well i'm not so happy Just being real and aware of this moment in itself is a heartfelt connection to Awareness and this means that you're connecting to awareness from beyond the ego So that means that just by coming back to whatever it is that you're not feeling but perceiving through the heart you are already in touch with a level of Connection that bypasses the limbic brain meaning that it bypasses this You know instant gratification impulse that very often is part of what drives the ego.
So when you understand this and you Somehow are able to come back to this space.
Everyone is able to come back to this space.
How do you do it?
Well,
You just breathe in and breathe out let go of the mundane let go of that sort of connection to worry or stress or anxiety or problems or situations or emotional sadness or reactive states of thinking or reactive states of feeling Just let go of the mundane and come back to the stillness of this present moment That's very potent when you are able to come back to this moment That means every time the mind falls into the pattern of thinking about whatever it is it wants to think about Simply come back to this moment now as you come back to this moment You will recognize That there are choices in this moment There are choices that happen in this moment where you can fall back into patterns of thinking so you can fall back into the egoic mind mind thinking that happens constantly in the background because the mind never stops thinking it just It's either that when you are thinking whatever thoughts you're thinking you're focused upon those thoughts or you're detached in such a way where you're Aware of more than just your thoughts because you are more than your thoughts,
You know this but if your attention and your energies Just focused upon those thoughts that are happening in your mind.
You're not present to yourself.
You're not present to this moment so awareness coming back to this state of awareness simply means that you're observing your mind,
But also connecting to all other aspects of your being so you're expanding The space that you're within you're expanding beyond your thoughts.
You're expanding beyond your feelings.
You're expanding into a space where you are not really Creating certain patterns that you're comfortable with you're expanding into the unknown.
So coming back to This heartfelt space that you are now connecting to simply means that you come back to that Which you don't understand that which you don't know.
So if you don't feel anything,
It's good.
It's not bad You know,
It's as soon as you sort of pretend a feeling then the ego is caught in in that game No,
Okay.
I'll come back to my heart and I should feel good and then okay.
I'll pretend i'm feeling good No,
It's not what i'm asking you to do and it's not what it means to come back to a state of expansion You can recognize this moment as it is.
So whatever you're feeling whatever you're thinking It's fine You don't have to change it.
You don't have to battle with that internal mechanism that's creating that game within yourself because if as soon as you give energy to The battle and that you are in the battle you are in that tension You are in that sort of game of pushing yourself to be something that you're not so be yourself,
You know And this means that you can relax.
Okay,
This is what i'm thinking.
I'm depressed.
I'm sad i'm happy I'm,
Whatever,
You know,
But i'm not attached to that thought because i'm present to this moment now as soon as you do this As soon as you allow for this state of presence that This beautiful state of presence even though that there is no connection to happiness perhaps or no connection to feeling good You are allowing for This very powerful practice I call gratitude So you're you you are able because you're present so you're detached from that thought that repetitive pattern of thinking You are able to move beyond that repetitive Thought that little box that the mind likes to feel comfortable within and you are able to step outside into the spaciousness of being And then that allows you to make a very clear choice You can fall back into those thoughts which is very often what happens when you let go of the mundane You find yourself being pulled back into the those thoughts even though you want to detach from them you fall back into them So that is one choice and if you know that you have that choice Then it's very easy to let go of that choice every time you find yourself Subconsciously falling into a pattern of thinking you can say consciously With my awareness now with my conscious awareness.
I choose to come back to this state of being that Allows me to experience the unknown one unknown and very powerful practice is gratitude and Gratitude doesn't happen because you want it to happen It doesn't happen because the ego thinks okay gratitude.
Okay,
Let's try that one so that I see if it works to bring me Back to happiness doesn't work that way because gratitude is about giving yourself So you have to find yourself before you can give yourself to the experience of gratitude.
You can't sort of Give the ego Space to gratitude you have to find yourself Whatever it is the truth of yourself being yourself doesn't mean that you have to be something special You don't have to be the Dalai Lama.
You don't have to be the powerful mystic You don't have to be the number one this or number one that you can just be yourself and experience gratitude And that is the only way to truly experience gratitude.
Otherwise you're doing this sort of What I call,
You know new ageism type of way of experiencing gratitude,
Okay today we experience gratitude yesterday We experience this and tomorrow we it's not it's not about the supermarket and choosing which a cake tastes better um,
You know in which meditational practice you want to choose today to see if you know It works for you Gratitude is about giving yourself It's not about giving a part of yourself To the experience is about giving yourself totally to the experience.
This means that you Recognize awareness for what it is.
You're not connected to the thoughts.
So this means if you are stressed or emotional or in distress or Just not happy about certain situations or distracted or for example suffering from brain fog or just feeling that you're not connected to um The energy or the aliveness that creates a sense of being well-being.
Um then This these are choices You can let them go just as you let go of certain attachments to thoughts and you can come back to the breath relaxing your body relaxing so that the expansion doesn't just happen within your mind the expansion of Moving beyond attachments to certain patterns of thinking doesn't just happen as a concept doesn't just happen As a concept but it happens as an experience in your body experience that you're feeling experience that you're perceiving through the many states of Manifestation that Makes you who you are.
You are more than your thoughts.
You're more than your feelings.
You're more than your body you are complex very complex Space of awareness and as soon as you come back to this space by letting go of Identification with this or that with certain thoughts or certain feelings then you come back to the natural state of relaxation that is The space that allows for gratitude so gratitude is very powerful.
Why is it very powerful because it changes your physical health when you are in a space of gratitude your health changes and this has been proven by neuroscientists and Practitioners of meditation that have been practicing meditation for many many years Being observed by many Scientists today we notice that The health benefits are quite amazing that we improve our physical health By coming back to gratitude.
It's actually not saying it's better than medicine But it's it is better than medicine doesn't mean that you have to stop taking your medication but just to show you that you know if gratitude was a pill that Pharmaceutical companies could sort of dispense and make money on They it would be the number one selling drug,
But gratitude is free luckily It doesn't have to be put into a pill or it doesn't have to be sort of wrapped up in all sort of Wonderful terminologies,
It's it's free because it's a space that we recognize as we come back to ourselves And we know that meditation allows for this Recognition because as soon as you come back to a state of awareness that expands beyond Identifying with a certain pattern of thought or certain brain wave activities that are created by certain patterns of thinking and as soon as we let that go and come back to the natural state that Creates functionality within the and coherence within the way that we're thinking then we fall back into a state of not just awareness But gratitude we feel That life is good.
We feel that life that we're just in a state of gratitude about life and This perhaps is subconscious in the beginning because the thoughts say the thoughts are up Beyond beyond the space of gratitude up there somewhere and you're aware of what's up there somewhere in in your head and you're Connected to your head and you're thinking oh the mortgage or that problem but deep within your heart Even though you're not connected to your heart your heart is experiencing the space of gratitude.
So you're Distracted by your thoughts,
But as soon as you let go of that space of gratitude As soon as you let go of those thoughts and you come back to the heart you you you recognize that you are in a state of gratitude This is why all you have to do is be yourself.
You don't have to try to be something different So as soon as you come back to being yourself and connecting to gratitude Scientists have have sort of recognized that not only Are you more healthy because your general health?
Changes for example pain Lowering effect of pain is very obvious neuroscientists have recognized this as soon as you're in a state of gratitude The pain threshold or the pain sort of communication that's happening within your body body changes You inflammation lowers the connection to pain and the nervous system Changes in structure the blood sugar in your body isn't going up and down and the insulin isn't sort of changing Moving up and down in that way where it affects your body in a negative way Your immune function changes because of the sugar and the inflammation situation changes your your blood pressure changes your heart health changes just general health The general connection to your health changes simply because you are experiencing falling back into the space where you're connected to gratitude You find that you your happiness increases the satisfaction of The satisfaction that you have because you're alive Just the satisfaction of being alive Changes and you feel more satisfied your stress level and emotional distress Transforms from being negative to being positive.
This means that you become more emotionally resilient and you're able to combat stress and anxiety in a way that Changes so you're actually what this is very important today in a world that is so depressed and Negative you are you through gratitude you are releasing antidepressants Yes,
You are antidepressants Antidepressants mood regulating chemicals in your mind such as serotonin um dopamine Oxytocin well,
There are all sorts of hormones more hormones,
But these are the three main ones That inhibit the stress hormone cortisol improves sleep improves sleep,
You know when you when all these Hormones are being released into your body that regulate chemicals such as serotonin dopamine so that you experience happiness through releasing these Beautiful hormones that regulate not only cortisol but also have far-reaching benefits On a physical level and a mental level not only is sleep beneficial But it's important and if you're not sleeping because you're anxious or stressed already That's one thing and that's just one thing that changes simply because you are in a space of gratitude So what does it mean to be in a space of gratitude?
What does it mean to to connect to gratitude?
Well gratitude means that you increase your generosity so you give more that is the opposite of what the mind wants to do when it's connected to a thought of For example,
I need to fix this problem or I need to change this or I need to do this or I need to whatever right now You don't have the space to be generous.
You don't have the space A giving space you can't give more when you're already overwhelmed by the negativity that is created because you are connected to just the part of the limbic brain that once Is creating impulses that create needs and more needs and more needs it's impossible It's two opposites that can never meet in the same place So when we know that because you're in a space of meditation,
We know this because you're experiencing experiencing all these changes in the physical body,
But there are more changes that happen Beyond the physical body,
But just so that you're aware these changes That have been recognized and tested by neuroscientists.
These changes are amazing in themselves But they're not the only changes when we know this is happening.
Then we know that Not only are we able to be more generous meaning that we can give more to ourselves We can give more to ourselves,
Which is very important,
But because we're giving more to ourselves It's natural and it's almost goes without Saying that because you're giving more you to yourself say you give more possibility to sleep,
You know and wake up more energized you give yourself more space to smile Because we're giving more to ourselves.
We naturally give more to the world and that is what Gratitude means gratitude isn't just a passive state of consciousness gratitude is a very active state of gratitude linked to happiness linked to What may seem Counterintuitive because you know if you're giving And you already feel overwhelmed and you don't feel that you have enough anything and it mind If you're connected to the mind will say oh i'm sacrificing again.
I'm sacrificing my own physical and emotional resources and i'm giving and why am I giving because no one ever cares anyway,
And then the mind ego plays this game that you know,
You know all about and plays it very well You know in life,
But also plays it very well in meditation See so meditation May be sort of a state of receptivity,
But it's very important in that state of receptivity to be active meaning that you link to The natural spaces that bring you back to happiness back to happiness within the receptive awareness that you're coming back to as you relax into meditation this means If you are receptive to gratitude Which is a natural state because you're as you come back to your heart as you're receptive to your heart You simply change and you connect to gratitude,
But it's there is an activity within gratitude That means your mind is saying oh,
I don't want to give I don't want to give i'm already overwhelmed I'm giving too much and I haven't got anything to give anyway,
You know,
And it's counterintuitive to say,
Okay But I want to be more generous.
I want to give more of myself.
I want to give more not doing things but Give more,
You know the real give myself to the situation give myself to meditation give myself to Whatever it is the activity of this moment Give myself more to this moment so that gratitude is a real experience rather than a pretense Yeah,
So when we know this there is a sort of decision that happens within the state of receptivity and the decision is As soon as the mind says,
Oh this is counterintuitive i'm sacrificing myself again,
And no one cares Anyway,
As soon as you fall into that egoic level of thinking knowing That that is not really The reality is just the mind perception you can detach from that mind perception and come back to your heart which is linked To the spaciousness of receptivity.
This means you are connected to more than that which your mind is thinking about You're connected to all life.
This is what meditation means you're connected to the spaciousness of being rather than the Perception that the mind creates about your being so as soon as you understand this then you can't be sacrificing anything because you are Connected to your heart doesn't mean you give anything It doesn't mean that you know just because you're connected to your heart you start sort of feeling gratitude immediately No,
There is a decision where you let go of that game that's created by the ego that game that's created by the ego Which is mental It's very much a mind thing.
Um,
Sometimes a feeling thing but Created by certain patterns within the brain as soon as you recognize this the decision is to move Detach away from that space and come back to your heart relax your body breathe in And be open to gratitude which is a state of generosity giving So this means you want to give more to this moment This is how you give yourself the gift of gratitude you give more to this moment means that you just open up to this moment and already by Creating such a wonderful decision within yourself not to be attached to the limbic brain and its thoughts and its thought patterns And saying okay,
I will detach from that thought that egoic thought already that decision Allows you the strength to move forward This means that you're committing yourself to the space of generosity You've already made that decision and that empowers your happiness that empowers your that empowers you in such a way where the neural link that happens in Within the the space of a split second within the moment where you're making that decision allows for generosity and happiness to create functional interactions between different brain regions that are engaged in generous sort of behavior and Also connect this to meditating in a happy way I call that meditating and connecting to happiness because rather than just relaxing you're connecting to the natural state of happiness the neural links that are connecting meditation generous behavior and also the way that you You you communicate or mediate to happiness changes And you are transforming the space within your brain so that that repetitive limbic brain thinking doesn't Find it so easy anymore because you're you're transforming the structure of your brain you're transforming the structure of your brain and you are just naturally coming back to a type of feeling a type of experience a type of thinking that is More generous this means that you now not only decide To come back to the state of gratitude But you begin to experience through your decision to let go of egoic realms of thinking you you you experience that now There is an actual movement of energy of energy so that generosity is not just a concept generosity You've already come back to the space where your brain now is transforming Because the structure of the neural links that are happening within the brain are no longer just Repetitive and based upon the limbic brain but now connecting to all different parts of your brain already You recognize this your heart recognizes this because it says gosh i'm no longer imprisoned by my egoic needs or thoughts or feelings But i'm free enough to be myself and the brain is supporting me to be myself so already there is a commitment within the structure of your Meditational space that you're creating Because of this where you're more generous you're more happy you the brain regions that link these different spaces within your behavior because of the um well,
This is complex,
But it's neuroscience because of What I was saying the different brain regions that are engaged in generous behavior now Through the neuron communication begin to understand that generosity and happiness is really what your heart wants It's really what your heart is Is comfortable to to participate To participate in in such an activity.
It's not difficult to be generous because actually we know that generosity and The state of gratitude that allows for generosity That is the state that brings us back to happiness It's not the needs and desires that we create as important thoughts in our minds that brings us back to happiness It's the giving if we give ourselves to our passions if we give ourselves to the moment if we give ourselves to being kind and compassionate and loving to To all that is happening around us to people to situations then we naturally fall back into happiness We are happier Spending Energy on such experiences and transforming Transforming the the way that we connect to ourselves and the way that the brain is structured Then spending money or spending things that suppose money or energies that supposedly Connect us to happiness or that's what we're told by the paradigms that are very very powerful within our society And that you know certain things make us happier Spend money on yourself spend money on others do this do that or whatever but actually it's the opposite we know that The material world does not make us happy it actually makes us more unhappy we know this because you know,
We know that People who have won the lottery Usually get very unhappy and you know,
There's research showing this it's weird,
But it's true that you know That you know the money is not really the key to happiness So i'm not saying that you need to become a self-sacrificing martyr You know and just sort of because that's another game.
That's another ego game,
You know,
Where we we we we play the victim You know,
That's another another energy transmission transmission in itself,
You know,
We play the victim here i'm giving And look no one appreciates and no one cares and no one wants to even begin to recognize,
You know,
That sort of Generosity is not what i'm speaking about,
You know generosity not only doesn't have to involve money You know generosity is about extending Ourselves to a situation beyond Verbal communication beyond mental communication Communication just extending ourselves so that we are present To the situation from within our heart.
So this means that we have to be intentional in our giving so Gratitude only happens when we have a sort of intent intentionality um That is active within our participation of the situation So it doesn't mean that we sort of self-sacrifice and give because our thoughts are saying okay I need to give or I need to Do this tony says,
You know be generous and say,
Okay,
I'll give a little bit more,
You know That's not what i'm saying.
I'm saying to give from the space that Has nothing to do with Sacrifice It comes from a state of abundance as soon as you come back to a heartfelt connection that allows you to See this Because you let go of your attachments to the ego mind or the ego limbic brain or the ego thoughts or the ego patterns repetitive thoughts that you know are all about Giving and the giver,
You know and what it means to appreciate giving And what it means to just give Just give like say the dali lama just gives because you're compassionate because you've Recognized that the heart is a beautiful space.
You don't need you know certain markers out there to show you that Happiness makes you more happy that those markers are obvious,
You know,
And those markers are really Present in the act of generosity in the act of gratitude.
So right now for example And we continue with this in the next transmission right now You can just be generous By appreciating that it's wonderful to be alive.
I am alive.
I am Here I am present.
I am affirming my Presence through connecting to my heart how wonderful it is already That is the space of gratitude because you're affirming the abundance that The heart allows you to connect to you are receptive to the abundance even if you don't recognize it through your thoughts You are creating the structure now within you structure within your heart mirrors the structure that Is happening in your brain as you come back to this moment your brain will transform from creating impulses of I need I want immediate satisfaction to Okay,
Wait a moment I'm here present and it's wonderful to be alive It's wonderful to be here As you breathe in and breathe out let go Let go of the mundane let go of the ego mind thoughts and come back to the still Presence that is here within the heart here in this moment Deep breath Let go Deep breath You may wish to continue in stillness Breathing in and breathing out and just Connecting the breath to the breath of life in stillness Expanding to this beautiful moment present to what is beyond that mind that continuously thinks about whatever connecting to just being being connected to your body Being connected to your breath being connected to your energy being connected to this moment in all its magnificence This moment is so much more than your thoughts so much more than those repetitive feelings that perhaps dominate the space of awareness now that you expand and expand Firm your connection to the multitude of possibilities that you are now receptive to even if you can't Understand with your mind what those connections mean say the neural connections that are happening within your brain Don't make sense to you Affirm that it's wonderful to be alive.
Yes,
I am alive Deep breath Letting go Just remaining still for a few more moments Connecting to the breath of life Thank you You You
