Letting go sounds as it shouldn’t be so hard, so why is it? Do we hold on in hopes that we can make things work? Or do we believe by letting go, everything will fall apart? Sometimes we don’t even realize how much we are holding on to until we release it. You cannot feel joy and peace if you don’t letting go of pain and sorrow.

Hello,

My name is Samantha Archibald of ZY Yoga.

Welcome and thank you for joining me.

Let's come into a comfortable seat.

Pulling the shoulders back and getting the spine nice and long.

Take a deep inhale and exhale it out.

Now begin to relax the shoulders.

Relax the arms,

The chest and the back.

Soften.

As we bring our mind to center inwards.

Begin inhaling deeply.

And completely exhale to release any tension.

Tension is sometimes in little corners of the body that we don't really notice or pay attention to.

Like the corners of the lips and the corners of the eyes,

The temple,

Maybe even the jaw line.

Many times we hold so much tension in our face that people can read our expression and know that there's stress and worries.

So let go.

And I know letting go is sometimes difficult to do.

But it's truly necessary to actually move forward.

So as you breathe in and you breathe out,

Just let go.

And allowing your mind to let go of pain and worries doesn't necessarily mean that you are being dismissive.

And there's a difference.

Letting go will enable you to put your troubles aside.

Take a breath and then deal with each situation one at a time.

It's like if you are trying to gather a whole bunch of fruits.

So you grab a pineapple,

Some bananas,

A few apples.

And then you reach for that grapefruit.

And you feel that the apples are slipping out of your hands.

You're holding on to so many different fruits that after a while you're overwhelmed.

You've taken on too much.

And holding on doesn't allow you to concentrate on any of those fruits.

And you're afraid to let go because,

Well,

Everything can fall apart.

But sometimes you do have to let it all go.

And by releasing,

You free yourself from the tension,

From the stress.

And then you can step back,

Take a look,

And put the pieces together again.

And in this case,

Grab all the fruits and put them in a basket.

So letting go is not dismissive.

It is sometimes quite necessary in order to move forward,

In order to put the pieces back together.

And the body needs to let go.

It needs to let go of tension,

Of the stress,

Of the day-to-day.

The mind needs to work fluidly.

So going back and hitting replay or worrying about the what if,

That doesn't allow you to be present to the what's now.

So come to your seat.

Allow yourself to breathe deeply.

And with the exhale,

Release not just carbon dioxide out of the body,

But all that doesn't serve you,

Which is the tension,

The anxiety,

The stress.

Give yourself that ability to release.

Give yourself the freedom to step forward so you can put the pieces back together.

And in doing so,

Begin to heal,

To find balance,

Create clarity,

And feel joy.

So take this moment to fine tune,

To bring consciousness into the body and the mind.

Notice what the mind is holding on to.

And simply let it go.

As you breathe in,

And you breathe out.

As you breathe in,

And you breathe out.

As you breathe out,

And you breathe out.

As you breathe in,

And you breathe out.

So I invite you to stay here a little longer if you like.

Softening and letting go.

But for now,

Have a wonderful day.

And Namaste.
