Hello,
My name is Samantha Achyabal of Sayoga and thank you for joining me on Insight Timer for a short meditation about how our mind works.
Breathe deeply in and exhale it out completely.
Again,
Inhale deeply and exhale it out.
Allow yourself to roll your shoulders back and feel the body elongated.
We begin by attempting to quiet down our thoughts,
But sometimes it's not about quieting the thoughts,
But more about bringing ourselves to a place where we're quiet.
Instead,
Watch the thoughts.
In that way,
We are not so involved in every thought and we leave room to realize that we are not our thoughts and that our thoughts are not our reality.
Our thoughts are constantly fluctuating.
They are in a space where we are rewinding stories that already happened or we are predicting things that we don't know yet will happen.
So can we bring our thoughts to this space,
This present moment?
Can we also get our thoughts to a place where we are okay,
Accepting of this moment for whatever this moment is?
Each day starts off different.
Some days are fantastic while others are a disaster.
Yet each day is yours with a lesson to learn.
When you are centered,
When your heart is in a place of clarity,
Compassion,
And love,
Regardless of how your day turns out,
You will take it with the sense of steadiness and stillness and you won't suffer from the anger and frustration of what the day brings.
Our emotions shift.
We move from happy to sad,
From fear to joy.
Still,
Those are moments that will pass.
But instead of being stuck in the past,
Too frightened to let go,
Or scared and anxious to move forward,
When we come to a space where we are calm,
Centered,
Clear in our minds,
Even our emotions come to a place of balance and our negative emotions do not last so long.
We learn not to let them eat up our minds,
Our bodies,
Our energy.
So that's why it's important for us to come to our seat,
To return to our true reality.
Not what's in our heads,
That constant dialogue of the past and the future,
But the reality of the present moment.
And once we ignite that,
We light up,
We shine through,
And we notice more how to observe and stay aware of our mind so that we become our own walk in meditation,
Our own sense of awareness.
We become enlightened.
And enlightenment is not something that happens in a fast burst,
But a slow realization,
Opening up,
Like one candle can light up a room or a smile can start a friendship.
The slow realization through your practice can heal your soul.
So allow yourself a little time,
A little space,
A little focus.
Allow your mind to be a separate entity where you watch and look at the thoughts as if they are going by like the clouds.
You separate yourself so you become the observer of those thoughts instead of being intertwined and swallowed up by those thoughts.
And then you realize that that is not your reality.
You realize that that's not the reality that you want to be in.
So you come to your seat,
You quiet yourself,
You relax yourself,
And you come to your breath and you realize that you've come home to the space you've created,
Your center,
Your truth of who you are.
And that clarity and compassion,
That love,
That light,
That always has been with you.
So we're going to take a few more minutes here,
But in these few minutes,
We'll sit quietly,
Taking in the sounds,
The space,
Observing the thoughts,
But staying true to your center,
Your reality from within.
And as you take a deep breath in again,
You might notice that the mind might have tried or might have drifted off into a non-reality,
Into a past or future.
No worries.
Let it go.
Bring yourself back home to your heart.
Allow yourself to ease and relax the body,
The muscles,
Relax the breath,
Settle into your space,
Your home.
And begin to wiggle the fingers,
Stretch the arms,
Connecting back to the reality of this moment,
This present moment,
Where you interact with the world outside of you.
And as you move through your day,
It's so easy to lose sight,
But your heart,
It stays true.
So have a beautiful day and thank you again.
I hope to share this space again with you in the future.
My name is Samantha Ochoa.
Have a wonderful day and Namaste.
