This recording is part of the Mighty Mighty Mantra series,
Which you can find more of on Insight Timer or on my social media.
I just wanted to take a moment to thank you for showing up to practice today.
Settle into a cross-legged posture with the hands open facing upward.
Or if you're lying down,
Then put arms to your side facing upward.
Bend a straight back with its natural curves,
Feeling the spine being massaged by the breath.
With the face slightly upturned,
Allow your focus to rest between the eyebrows.
Gently close the eyes and mouth,
Leaving a slight space between the teeth and the lips.
If you are depressed,
You are living in the past.
If you are anxious,
You are living in the future.
If you are at peace,
You are living in the present.
This quote is by Lao Tzu.
Observe your body breathing.
If there are any areas of resistance,
Breathe into these areas.
Feel the body being massaged by your gentle,
Full,
And conscious breathing.
Observe your mind.
If there are any distracting thoughts,
Breathe in a quiet rebellion.
You do not have to chase or entertain these thoughts.
Just observe.
If you have to take refuge from your mind in your breath,
Do so with a tender heart.
Be gentle to yourself,
For this is the practice.
Observe your emotions.
If anything comes to the surface,
Breathe into them.
Feel your heart with the clean energy of the air and let some of it go with the exhale.
As we sit in silence,
Observing the way we breathe and create gentle distance between our various animations,
We are practicing the art of allowing,
Allowing what is to be,
All of it.
The so-called good,
The so-called bad.
Nothing existing,
But without reacting,
Without doing a thing.
Many people will spend most of their lives resisting what is already there.
The thoughts,
Feelings,
Physical sensations,
What's happening around us,
Etc.
So much so that life becomes me versus the world,
Because so many things will not go our way.
And this can cause resistance to life.
As we take a break from the self-centric mind and bring it to be the open sky mind,
Our senses seem futile and one can find peace in full acceptance,
Full allowingness.
So for the next few moments,
We're allowing what is to be.
The breath is our anchor and we can always come back to the breath.
Take a steady,
Full and conscious breath in and let it out.
Imagine the breath as the waves in the present moment as the ocean.
When each wave laps against the sand,
Your exhalation leaves you ready for a new breath.
When each wave flows back into the ocean,
Your connection to the present moment deepens.
As you inhale,
You feel a sense of peace flooding your being.
As you exhale,
You feel it flushing out any toxins,
Tension and resistance.
The breath as the waves,
The present moment as the ocean.
As we take the driver's seat to the act of breathing,
We send a message to every cell in our body.
We're sending a message of peace,
Tenderness and love.
Deep conscious breathing is one of the body's strongest self-healing tools.
As you continue breathing,
Feeling the waves further merging with the ocean,
Feel it lowering blood pressure,
Reducing the heart rate,
Decreasing stress hormones,
Exercising the lungs,
Increasing physical and mental energy,
Improving your immunity.
Feel this happening within you,
In your body,
To allow whatever is to be present.
You are the observer.
The breath is your refuge,
Your anchor should you need it.
Take a deep,
Slow breath as you bring your attention back into the room and ready to go forward into your day.
Thank you for sharing your meditation practice with me.
It is my wish and blessing that this enhances your life in some way.
