Hi everyone,

My name is Rhea and today we're gonna do together the self-compassion break as adopted by Kristin Neff and this is a meditation alongside with music and the invitation here is to taking a comfortable sitting position and allowing your eyes to gently close or lower your gaze and let's take a couple of deep slow breaths together and allowing ourselves to settle.

So the invitation here is to bring a situation in your mind that is troubling you right now,

It's causing you distress and locating how the distress is manifesting to you right now and for that let's welcome the first component of self-compassion which is mindfulness and allowing to become aware of what happened,

What causes you distress and where do you feel that in your body right now.

The invitation here is to bring something on the small to moderate level,

We don't want to be overwhelmed,

So can we become mindful of the situation,

Can we bring awareness and realizing how that event,

How this stressful situation is impacting us on the bodily realm,

The emotional realm or maybe what thoughts comes up.

Now can we invite common humanity,

The second part of self-compassion to accompany us in this self-compassion break and expanding our awareness so that the I am suffering becomes we are suffering and realizing that distress,

Sadness,

Difficult emotions are part of the human experience.

As we are meditating together,

Realizing that your friend,

Your family,

Your neighbor and all fellow beings are suffering in a way,

Allowing that understanding to bring a sort of ease and finally can we respond to the suffering in a new way,

Can we welcome the third component of self-compassion which is self-kindness to allow us to respond in a kind warm attitude.

May we allow soothing touch in the area of the body that feels most distress or placing our hand over our heart to support us in a kind and warm way or can we offer it to ourselves words of self-kindness,

Phrases we need to hear or needed in that moment.

I'm here for you,

I see you,

I love you or it's gonna be okay.

Can we allow soothing touch and words of kindness to fill our heart with warmth in a new way of responding to our suffering and now allowing this practice to come to its end by marinating into all the three components of self-compassion,

Mindfulness,

Common humanity and self-kindness and breathing through those components and whenever you feel ready opening your eyes and allowing this practice to come to its end.
