Welcome,

I'm Heidi and I'll be guiding you through today's meditation.

One of my favorite authors Melody Beattie writes,

Learn to listen to silence,

Listen to the world around you and the silence will sing you a beautiful song.

Before I had this practice of meditation I could only find stillness sitting on a beach,

Watching and listening to the waves crashing onto the beach sand,

Feeling the cool breeze on my skin and the sand beneath my feet and a magnificent sunset to admire.

Only in these moments could I be present,

Still and listening.

This is a beautiful gift to be still and to be present.

The ability to sit in silence is healing.

This healing silence sometimes seems so out of reach for our everyday life.

With an ever busy mind of racing thoughts we struggle to find the silence anywhere else other than maybe on a beach.

Today I invite you to join me to find this moment of silence,

Presence and healing right where you are today.

Get comfortable in an easy seat or lying down.

Feel free to use pillows or blankets to be comfortable and relaxed.

Close your eyes.

Now bring your awareness to the parts of your body that are connected to the ground.

Feel that connection with the earth to ground you,

Support you and bring you a sense of stability.

Slowly bring your awareness to your nostrils.

Notice the air moving in through your nostrils as you breathe in and notice the air coming out of your nostrils as you breathe out.

Notice the temperature of the air when you breathe in and then notice the warmer temperature of the air as you breathe out.

Notice if there is any difference in the texture of the air.

Is it smooth or is it thick?

Now bring your awareness to the subtle movement in your body that is created by you breathing in and breathing out.

Continue to be here with your breath.

When your mind wanders gently bring your awareness back to your breath.

As you practice this awareness of breath the still quiet spaces will lengthen and you can quietly listen,

Quietly heal and quietly learn.

No matter where you are you now can find stillness just as if you were sitting on the beach being still and listening to the constant and comforting sounds of the waves,

Feeling the grains of sand between your toes and the ocean air on your skin and witnessing the colorful skies of the sunset.

When you are ready please start to bring your awareness to the sounds around you.

Start to lengthen your inhale and open your mouth and sigh it all out.

Then gently open your eyes.

Your breath is a powerful tool to bring you a sense of ease,

Peace and presence.

Use this practice anytime you need throughout your day to bring you to your place of healing.

I hope you have a wonderful day and I hope we can do this again soon.

Be well and namaste.
