Hello and welcome.
Thank you for joining me for this Eye of the Storm calming meditation.
Our ability to remain calm no matter what is happening around us is a skill worth cultivating.
External storms can manifest in various forms such as challenging situations,
Conflicts,
Or overwhelming responsibilities.
These challenges can trigger emotional turbulence,
Stress,
And anxiety.
However,
By consciously cultivating inner calm,
We can remain centered and clear-headed despite the storm raging around us.
Sometimes the storms that rage the loudest are the ones within our own minds.
Being able to calm our minds and nervous system is so valuable for our mental health and overall well-being.
Since we all have an effect on others around us with our energy and thoughts,
When we are powerfully centered and calm,
We can have an amazing and positive influence on the people around us.
Let's begin this centering meditation with a sense of allowing and receptivity as we explore our internal space.
Find a seat and make yourself comfortable.
You might want to sit on a cushion or blanket to slightly lift your hips higher than your knees to bring more ease into your spine.
Invite a regal spine.
Place your hands comfortably on your legs,
Either palms up or down.
Gently close your eyes and start to tune in to your internal landscape.
Notice any sensations you might feel in your body.
Do you sense any unrest or storms happening within you?
Is there any tightness or tension anywhere in your body?
Do you feel any discomfort or other unwanted sensation?
What is the state of your mind?
Are thoughts moving quickly through your awareness?
Is there any tension in your mind?
What do you notice?
Now can you welcome or simply allow whatever you are experiencing to just be as it is?
Begin by taking a nice deep inhale through your nose and a slow,
Soft exhale through your nose.
Continue to gently lengthen your exhale so it is slightly longer than your inhale.
Keep your breath smooth and easy.
Just notice your breath for a few moments here without trying to change anything.
A nice deep inhale,
Maybe about 5 seconds,
And longer,
Easy exhales,
Maybe 7 to 10 seconds.
Imagine your heart is breathing you.
Feel your breath emanating from your heart,
Filling your whole body.
Now as you continue to breathe in this way,
About 5 second inhales,
Longer,
Easy exhales,
As if your heart is breathing you,
Take a moment to reflect on something you are grateful for.
It can be a person,
A situation,
Or something simple like the feeling of the sun on your skin or maybe the sweet sound of birds singing.
Allow a sense of gratitude to fill your heart and mind,
Bringing you a sense of peace and contentment.
As you inhale and exhale,
Imagine yourself entering the eye of a storm.
Visualize the chaos and noise dissipating as you move towards the center of calmness within you.
Allow your breath to be the anchor that keeps you centered and connected to this inner stillness.
And just like turbulent winds that surround the eye of the storm,
Thoughts and emotions may arise within you.
Instead of getting caught up in the storm of thoughts and emotions,
Observe them from a place of detachment and non-judgment.
Recognize that they are temporary and simply passing through your awareness like clouds.
Allow them to come and go as you maintain your connection with your inner calm.
Notice your perspective in the eye of the storm.
Observe the turbulence around you from a place of clarity and centeredness.
Continue to breathe easily here and feel your inner calm and presence becoming stronger.
Notice the stillness within you.
As you remain still and peaceful within,
You may connect more easily with your inner wisdom.
Visualize yourself able to easily respond to any situation from a place of clarity and equanimity.
As you continue to focus on your breath,
Thoughts and emotions may arise.
Simply acknowledge their presence,
Observe them with a sense of curiosity and non-judgment,
And then gently bring your attention back to your breath.
As you continue to focus on your breath and maintain your focus in the present moment,
Begin to gradually open up your awareness to the world around you.
Begin by becoming aware of the sounds that surround you.
Notice any distant sounds,
Perhaps outside the room you are in.
Observe any closer sounds,
Such as the sounds in the room you are in.
Allow these sounds to be present without judgment or commentary,
Simply letting them arise and pass through your awareness.
Take a moment to appreciate the interconnectedness of everything and everyone.
When any thoughts enter your mind-scape,
Simply bring your awareness gently back to your breath and being in your calm center.
Stay present in this moment.
Keep gently bringing your attention and awareness back to your breath and continue on your own for a few moments here.
Gently bring your awareness back to this moment.
Notice your body.
Notice your breath.
Observe any sensations.
Notice how you feel.
Take a moment to gently deepen your breath.
Maybe begin to make some small movements,
Gradually stretching in whatever way feels best to you.
When you feel ready,
Gently open your eyes.
The storms in our lives,
No matter how intense,
Eventually pass.
Remember that even in the midst of chaos,
We have the capacity to access a place of calm and peace within ourselves.
When faced with adversity,
Pause.
Take a few breaths and reconnect with that inner stillness and calm.
By practicing this meditation regularly,
You'll strengthen your ability to remain centered,
Grounded and focused,
Enabling you to weather the storms of life with resilience and grace.
Thank you so much for joining me today for this Eye of the Storm meditation.
Have a beautiful rest of your day.
Namaste.
