Hey,
I'm Cyrus.
Maybe we can stop kidding ourselves with the resolutions and deal with the things that are actually holding you back from creating a stable foundation this new year,
From which you can actually grow.
So if you're up for that,
Just go ahead and find a comfortable position,
Sitting upright but also relaxed.
Close your eyes when you feel ready.
And take a slow,
Deep,
Powerful breath in through the nose.
Exhale slowly out through the mouth.
And let's do two more like that,
Really paying attention to the body as you breathe in,
Filling the body with oxygen,
Letting go super slow out through the mouth.
And last one,
Deepest one,
Slowest one,
Breathing all the way down to the toes.
And releasing in slow motion,
Relaxing and decompressing as you exhale.
And now just take a moment to get centered in an awareness of the moment by listening to the sounds around you,
Feeling the air on the surface of your skin and noticing the breath flowing to you at an easy pace and how it makes the chest and stomach rise and fall effortlessly as it flows.
And now let's begin with some part of yourself that you don't fully like.
Nothing overwhelming,
Just choose some quality or aspect of yourself that feels bothersome in some way.
Maybe you'd like to fix or change or get rid of it if we're being honest.
And just notice how you feel towards it in this moment.
And if there's any negativity at all towards it,
Even subtly,
Take this as an opportunity to change your relationship to that part of you.
Just regard it as an experiment,
As a living,
Breathing part of your psyche and just ask it in this moment,
Why does it do what it does?
Just ask it that with a gentle curiosity and non-judgment and wait for what answer bubbles up.
As you begin to explore and start to make a safe connection with this part of you,
You might choose to ask it,
What are you afraid would happen if you didn't play the role that you play within me?
And just be open to what answer it gives you.
And even if you don't logically agree with these answers,
Just see if you can be open even a little to the ways in which this part has protected you or served some function.
See if you can express a gratitude towards that part of you for doing so,
For attempting to help or protect you.
And now start to bring in a sense of self-compassion and acceptance towards that part,
Just as an experiment,
Shine that inner warmth as you bring it into your inner self,
Bringing it under your internal umbrella,
Giving it space to breathe and be without needing to lead with it as much anymore if you don't want to.
And notice how as you start to bring it in,
It might start to feel easier to let it be there without needing to let it run you in certain moments when it might have in the past and it's easier if you're conscious of it without fighting against it,
Just simply seeking to understand it better instead naturally disarms it within you.
And now I invite you to take a slow,
Deep breath and let that part of you go for now on the exhale.
And begin to shift your attention to some aspect of your life that isn't where you want it to be yet.
Again,
Choose something not overwhelming,
But just something that doesn't really feel like it's where you want to be.
Notice any reactions to the awareness of that without judgment.
And now instead of judging,
Forcing,
Resisting or pushing any of our normal strategies,
See if we can start instead by understanding why it isn't where you want it to be.
Perhaps ask yourself,
Is it because some other aspect of life that would support it is being neglected?
Is it because some part of you doesn't yet feel safe to grow in that area to be seen or succeed in some way?
Is it something else entirely?
See if you can explore the reasons with curiosity and non-judgment instead of fear or apprehension,
Just being open and gentle to whatever floats into your awareness now.
Now with whatever came up,
See if you feel ready and safe to face any of those fears or blocks within you.
If it feels right and safe to do so,
Just acknowledge and face them.
As you feel them in your body and allow them to flow up and through like a wave just passing and running its course moment to moment.
Staying with that flow of energy as it moves through your body and out into the ether effortlessly.
In each moment,
Fully embrace whatever is being felt,
Whatever wants to be acknowledged and transmuted as you allow that very alive flow of energy to happen through you and release at its own pace.
And as it perhaps begins to evaporate and dissolve,
Allow it to create a sense of space and possibility within.
And as that space emerges,
Allow it to blossom into a sense of expansiveness that would allow you to explore what practical actions it might take for you to start to make progress in this area.
Maybe you notice its inner work or outer actions or both.
But see if you can notice what the universe is telling you that it is and boil it down to very simple steps that you can start taking on a regular basis.
And I invite you to commit to those small steps within yourself now at a pace that feels sustainable if you think it would benefit you to do so,
Simply embracing that internal commitment.
Once more,
I invite you to take a slow,
Soothing,
Cleansing breath into the whole body and release the awareness of that area of your life for now.
And now,
Take this moment as an opportunity to be aware of the parts of yourself that are all or nothing.
The part that might sprint towards New Year's resolutions only to falter when you fail to be perfect for a day.
And just gently,
Compassionately hold those perfectionistic or all or nothing parts of you within your awareness for a moment.
And as you hold space for them,
Also be aware of your capacity for consistency and the ability to commit to anything you do in any present moment.
How you don't have to wait for tomorrow or a reset moment.
How every moment is an opportunity to show up fully and create the rhythm you want instead of waiting for tomorrow.
And as this awareness starts to grow,
Feel your ability to accept yourself now.
To accept imperfections within yourself and within your life situation.
But still show up fully to the best of your present ability in each and every moment as soon as you realize you can.
As an expression of your deeper desire to live fully and love your life.
And you can internalize this awareness if you wish by committing in the New Year to committing to each moment as presently as possible from wherever you're at whenever you realize you haven't been doing so.
And in so doing,
Treating life as a meditative practice to come back to presence and love and commitment to the moment whenever you notice you've drifted without needing to be perfect.
And in the spirit of that,
I invite you to set aside particular resolutions for the New Year for the moment and just reflect on values and qualities that you want to embody in the New Year.
Notice what values and qualities emerge from the depths of your being as resonant with you at this moment in your life.
And instead of waiting for the outside world to give you those qualities,
Instead feel them flowing through you now.
Imagine their energies are abundant and limitless and all you have to do is welcome and breathe them in.
Notice the textures and colors and patterns of those qualities and values.
And feel them flowing through the cells of your body right now.
And don't put any logic or limits on them,
Just allow them to amplify more and more with the breath in each moment.
As you feel them thickening and expanding,
Flowing freely through every cell of the body and around you.
And notice as you do so that you can cultivate these energies and qualities from within and allow what you do to be an expression of them.
So I invite you to commit to taking time to cultivate these energies and qualities within your mind and body every day proactively.
Through some form of meditation or inner work and allow your actions and growth to flow more effortlessly from these energies.
The same way you might naturally show love to everyone around you when you're in a good mood.
Keep allowing these positive energies to be cultivated from within so that your actions and creations are an effortless outflow of what you're creating within.
What's meaningful to you on a deeper level.
You might choose to open your eyes and come back slowly at your own pace.
Just maintaining that energy and presence that you've created moment to moment in a way that feels easy and good to you.
Feel free to share this with anyone you think it might help and I invite you to practice meditation on a daily basis to create and cultivate these qualities of presence and well-being within yourself.
And I wish you an amazing new year.
