How do we explore our world with a sense of calm, stillness, and harmony? When we come to our meditation, life becomes quiet, simple, and straightforward. At least, that is what we hope. Then we start our day and engage with our world, and our minds get lost in life's everyday challenges. Nevertheless, we want to be consciously actively still.

Hello,

My name is Samantha Archibald of Zayoga.

Welcome and thank you.

Thank you for joining me for this little time that we'll spend being conscious of our stillness.

So come into a seat,

It could be sitting on a chair or sitting on the floor,

But just find yourself comfortably relaxed in a nice position.

And close your eyes and relax your shoulders and let's go inwards to a quiet place where there isn't any change and our focus isn't on the fluctuation of thought.

So we tell our mind in a way to just be.

So the thoughts will be there,

But we're just watching,

We're not attaching ourselves to the fluctuation.

And the minute we close our eyes and we relax our shoulders,

We begin to soften.

We begin to separate ourselves from the outside world.

We let go of all that is happening outside of us for a short moment.

It doesn't mean that we're not aware of all that's happening around us,

But we choose not to engage.

We pay attention to the breath and we allow our senses to be attentive to the sounds,

The smells,

The touch,

But we're not engaging.

And we create a steadiness and a stillness as we watch,

Observe,

Yet we do not judge.

So there's no judgment,

No interacting,

Just a quiet,

Steady observation.

And we give ourselves the ability to settle in and trust in this present moment.

The breath slows down and we become steady,

Still,

Relaxed.

And becoming still and steady,

Settling in doesn't mean that we become complacent.

It doesn't mean that we are indifferent.

It means that we don't have to do anything right at this moment,

But we're still aware.

We're watchful and we allow life to show us the way.

We allow life to show us what's right in front of us at this very moment.

So giving yourself the ability to sit still,

To observe and watch gives you the space to see and understand what needs to happen in this moment.

It gives you the opportunity to understand what needs to happen next.

And again,

If we're wrapped up in our thoughts,

Wrapped up in our actions,

So much so,

We can forget to pay attention to what is truly in front of us.

It's like this story about the snake,

Which is a rope.

We get so wrapped up in thinking that there's a snake.

We don't see that it's what's truly in front of us.

It's just a rope.

So we're lost in our thoughts,

Our ideas of what really is,

When in reality,

The truth is right in front of us and we just can't see it because we're in our heads.

Luckily for us,

It is in our nature to seek balance,

To seek the truth because we really want to experience life fully.

So can we be active,

Creating,

Doing,

Engaging in life,

Yet still pay attention and enjoy our lives with balance,

With truth?

Or are we going to live our lives in our heads,

Afraid,

Not taking chances,

In doubt,

Thinking that there's a snake when there's just a rope?

So not taking those chances to live fully.

I believe that we want to create that balance.

We want to have harmony and we really truly want to be that mindful witness who's observing what's truly in front of us.

We want to choose how we live our lives.

And the truth is,

No one else can do that for us.

No action outside of yourself can bring that balance,

That harmony,

Without you participating from within,

From that space that you create where you can be still,

Steady,

And observe and be the watcher and see what truly is in front of you.

Therefore we come to this moment.

We come and take a seat quietly.

We relax our shoulders,

We close our eyes and we allow our mind to move from a place of doubt,

Of fog,

Of uncertainty.

And we clear that mind,

Allowing our senses to be active yet calm.

And we begin to move to a place of trust and compassion,

Of clarity and of wisdom,

Not in a place of chaos.

But again,

We come to the seat and we become that active stillness of consciousness.

And we realize that the mind doesn't always have to be active and doing.

The mind doesn't have to be on a hundred percent go for you to be aware and conscious.

The mind can take some time to quiet down,

To be steady,

To create balance.

And in that balance that we create,

The mind becomes active,

But the mind also is still.

So there's this conscious clarity,

This conscious active stillness that we create where we're able to move and flow and do and live in a way that brings harmony,

That brings passion and love into our lives,

Which is what we want.

Which is how we want to move along through our day,

Through our days,

Through our weeks,

Through our life.

We are actively active,

Actively still.

So come into your seat,

Noticing your breath as your eyes are closed and your body is relaxed.

Your senses are active.

You can hear,

Feel,

Smell all that is happening in this very moment.

And you observe it,

You watch it.

You watch it from a place of consciousness.

And you create an understanding of that stability from within you.

And once you understand that stillness and you want to understand that that's always been within you.

When you're ready to open your eyes and become active,

You're ready to do it in a way that creates the freedom and the peace throughout your day to day.

Don't let go.

When you're ready,

When you're ready to engage with the world around you,

Just gently,

Slowly,

Open your eyes,

So that you're conscious,

Yet actively steady and still,

Keeping the balance and the harmony of both what's happening from within and throughout.

Have a wonderful day and Namaste.
