The anapanasati or mindfulness of breathing is the practice of following the breath to cultivate calm,
Samatha,
And insight,
Vipassana,
Leading toward liberation.
It's a foundational Buddhist meditation that rewards anyone who practices.
Don't worry if you aren't a Buddhist or don't define yourself any way at all.
This meditation is for anyone and everyone.
You may hear words you don't know the meaning of,
That's okay.
Just rest in awareness of the breath.
Breathing in,
I know I am breathing in.
Breathing out,
I know I am breathing out.
Breathing in a long breath,
I know it is long.
Breathing out a long breath,
I know it is long.
Breathing in a short breath,
I know it is short.
Breathing out a short breath,
I know it is short.
Breathing out,
I am aware of my whole body.
Breathing in,
I calm my whole body.

I feel joyful.
Breathing out,
I feel joyful.

I feel happy.
Breathing out,
