Welcome back,

My friend,

To Get Woke with Jaren.

We breathe constantly,

But it's not something most of us think to practice.

My experience is that breathing is the best tool we have for correcting emotions.

So let's get at it.

Let's close our eyes and as you melt into your seat,

Take a deep breath in and breathe out.

Continue to relax and place your focus on breathing.

Just receive the breath.

Don't force it.

Breaths might as well be a thought arising outside of our control.

Now smile.

And as you continue to relax,

See if you can feel a distinction between what you perceive as the breath and a wider presence observing it.

Within that space,

Try to play around with the shape of your breathing.

Try breathing up and down,

Backwards and forwards,

Letting it flow through different parts of your nose.

Make small iterations and see what feels right.

You you you if you find yourself lost in thought without judgment look at the thought that's taken your mind I noticed that thoughts are located in different areas and there are patterns for instance a lot of my worried thinking seems to be located in the prefrontal cortex see if in your practice you notice any patterns too and let me know in the comments now let your thoughts subside and return to breathing You You I'm gonna teach you a breathing technique.

I really enjoy it's called so hum breathing as You inhale breathe through your nose while silently saying the word so Then slowly exhale through your nose while saying the word hum so hum so hum Practice breathing this way for the next minute You You Now let's go even deeper This next technique I discover naturally in my own practice,

But it's actually existed for thousands of years Ujjayi breath sometimes referred to as the dark vader breath because it's so true.

It's dark vader sounds as we breathe Try to keep your tongue at the bottom of your mouth let your jaw drop into a relaxed position and We'll create a slight restriction in the back of our throat as we do this Take spacious breaths in and out like this You You You don't forget to smile You Sometime over the next hour when you feel a negative emotion I Want you to practice your favorite breathing technique from this session When we keep our breathing flowing nothing can affect us Thank you for tuning in and also thank yourself for taking time to learn this simple but incredibly powerful life skill I'd love to hear from you in the comments which breathing exercise.
