From Champignyada,

I'm Colleen Thomas.

This is Everyday Magic for Ukraine.

Today we will sit with sadness.

Welcome to the circle.

So today all you need,

If you have one,

Is a handkerchief.

You could also have a box of Kleenex or anything along those lines.

Today we're going to do something kind of unusual.

We're going to create room to be with sadness.

Our lives are generally structured to keep our minds off of the hard things.

But nevertheless,

The hard things are there.

And sometimes they need a bit of love,

A bit of attention,

And a bit of time.

So before we begin today,

Let's get centered.

Let's get grounded.

Let's come at this from a strong,

Resourced place.

So you might join me in noticing what you are standing,

Sitting,

Or lying on right now.

And feel down into the earth beneath you.

Allow your awareness to drop down.

You can imagine a connection between yourself and the planet,

A grounding cord,

A root,

A waterfall,

Whatever feels right to you.

See if there is anything you'd like to release down to the earth.

Anything heavy,

Anything oppressive or weighty.

Anything you might not need to be holding right now.

And as you are releasing these things,

You can notice if you're feeling lighter and more clear.

You can allow your body,

Your energy body to begin to clear out,

Moving these heavier things down into the earth,

Letting the mother earth hold them for you.

And feel yourself held and resourced by the earth beneath you.

And if you'd like to,

You can join me in placing a hand on your heart.

Maybe take a breath into your heart.

And we're going to create a space together to honor anything that is sad.

Anything that is sad in your heart space,

Anything that is sad in my heart space.

And as we work through this part of the meditation today,

I invite you to be gentle.

Maybe don't pick the saddest thing you can think of,

The saddest thing in your world.

But allow yourself to notice,

Is there something in your world,

In your heart that you feel like you have the strength and the fortitude to hold space for right now?

What is something that is sad for your heart that you'd like to hold space for right now?

Maybe see it or remember it.

Just allow yourself to be with it very gently and being very tender toward your heart as you look at this thing that is sad for you.

Bringing your compassion to this moment,

To yourself.

And knowing that you are thinking about and holding space for this thing within a community of people doing the same thing.

We're all here doing the same thing with you.

You might invite in some breathing,

Tears are welcome.

It's okay to feel this sadness.

It's okay to be human and to feel loss.

If it feels supportive,

You might imagine your best friend or your favorite family member sitting with you as you honor this loss.

Your spirit guides or your imaginary friends,

People who know you and understand you and love you and know that this loss is hard for you.

You might even welcome your future self to be with you in this moment so that you can see that you will make it through this.

Allowing this future self to be with you in a compassionate way,

Remembering what it was like for you to deal with this loss at first.

Just utilizing your resources on the inner to surround yourself with so much compassion right now.

So much compassion for your heart and your truth in this moment.

And I invite you to take a couple of breaths with me,

Maybe wiggle your fingers and your toes.

We're going to begin to gently,

Gently transition back from this space.

Your tears are welcome.

Your tears are healing.

Your tears are necessary for the planet.

If you have your Kleenex or your handkerchief,

You might grab it now as we transition back.

Gently,

Gently,

Gently.

Maybe allowing your eyes to open or beginning to listen to the sounds around you.

Slowly,

Slowly transitioning back into your space.

This is really powerful and deep work,

And I give a deep bow to you for allowing yourself to be vulnerable,

And I hope that you will take really good care of yourself today.

Do all the things,

Drink more water,

Go to bed early,

Give yourself lots of hugs,

Ask other people to give you lots of hugs if you have lots of people around you.

Do all the good things for your heart.

You are essential and your heart is exquisite.

May we remember the healing that can come when we open up to the deeper feelings in a safe space and allow ourselves to be transformed.

May it be so.

Thank you so much for being with us today.

Your presence,

Your energy,

And your heart make all the difference in healing our world.

Remember to breathe today.

Breathe and expand.

And I hope you join us again next time.

Please consider inviting a friend.
