This is a meditation for anyone going through the difficult emotions of loss.
For those grieving family,
A friend,
Someone in their hearts.
Breathe deeply,
Breathe long,
Breathe slow.
Allowing the air to nourish and to soothe you.
Breathe into the entire body.
Allow it to release.
Place a hand on your heart and feel it gently beating.
Sense the rhythm of this beat and feel its subtle strength.
Begin to notice what else is here.
What else do you sense around your heart?
A tenderness,
An ache,
A tightness.
The energy you feel may seem overwhelming.
Breathe deeply into that space and allow it to open up gently.
The ache or heaviness is not to be feared.
It's a reminder of your love,
An everlasting love.
It's whispering the words,
I'm here for you,
I care.
Let its golden words fill your body with the kindness it's desperate to show you.
The tears that flow and sting are not to be feared,
Don't hold them in.
The tears are like little messengers,
Carrying love straight from your heart.
They're warriors shining with their light of compassion.
Welcome the tears,
Let them shine,
Let them flow.
And now feel your entire body and how it's resting here.
What do you notice?
Is it tired,
Numb,
Heavy?
Whatever you sense,
Know there is nothing wrong with you.
The body is simply talking.
It's saying drop down from the thoughts that cause you more suffering,
Come down to me,
Sit with me,
Hold me.
There's no need to run or ignore the body.
It's here to help.
Can you listen?
Can you rest your weary heart in its refuge?
Wrap your loving arms around your body.
Can you hold your pain,
Your grief,
Sadness and confusion within your loving arms?
And whenever you sense the presence of your loved one,
Their face,
Their smile,
Their light,
Bring them with you.
Allow them to see your love,
Allow them to feel your love.
Embrace and comfort them with the same kindness.
See them being nourished by your tears and comforted by your love.
For they will always live on in your heart.
Beginning to take a deeper,
More conscious breath.
Breathing in that nourishing,
Cleansing air.
And as you release,
Feel the entire body resting here.
Repeating the cycle of a slow,
Long,
Nourishing breath for as long as you need.
Before you open your eyes,
Take a few moments to rest,
To care,
To hold your heart.
