Make any final adjustments that you need to now and then let's very quickly just let the body really feel the difference between tension and relaxation so raising your legs just slightly and really squeeze the muscles how does it feel to hold,
To grip and to clench here and then how does it feel to release,
To soften and to let go just noticing the two different sensations good and then raising your hips just slightly squeezing the bottom holding gripping and clenching and then allowing your hips to soften back down and to release the weight good and then pressing your lower back down into the ground,
The mat,
The bed,
Wherever you're lying and then releasing and letting go good and then squeeze the tight fist really press your fingers into your palms how does it feel to hold,
To clench and to grip and then spreading your fingers out wide tensing your upper arms and then allowing your arms to settle back down unconsciously sometimes the body is in such a state of contraction and holding and bracing so we're just feeling that difference tensing your abdomen,
Your chest and all of the muscles of your back and then allow your whole upper body to soften back down and completely release the weight and then just slightly raise your head just feel the weight,
Head is really heavy and we carry this weight all day right now offer it back and let the weight of your head be held so that you're not holding that weight even slightly and then we're just going to spend a little bit of time breathing really slowly and deeply so let's take our first deep releasing breath together so nice deep breath right down into your belly,
Hunching and squeezing your shoulders right up to your ears and then let your body go breathing a sigh of relief and then in your own time as the energies of your mind body system settle down naturally take a few more of these really slow,
Low releasing breaths and take your time,
No rush,
This is the part of your day where there is no need to get to the next moment but just slowing everything right down and breathing really low if you do have a lot going on in your life at the moment you may find that it's a struggle,
It can be a struggle can't it to get a really deep breath so let your whole body soften all the muscles,
Softening so that your body can breathe with ease and these breaths are like a bridge,
Like a doorway into that space within yourself that is untouched,
That is untouchable by all the events of our life so let yourself drop right here where you already are,
Sinking back into the soft space of just being and let that breath go really low,
It doesn't have to be big,
You don't have to work hard or make lots of effort,
Your body knows how to breathe so just let it go down into your abdomen,
Tummy filling up like a balloon as you inhale and then handing everything over with a lovely long and soft sigh,
Handing over the whole story of your life,
Just for now give yourself a break from the whole world,
This is a time of self care,
A natural care that arises from the space of just being,
That you care enough about yourself right now to meet all of your humanness,
Tenderly like you would a small child that needed your attention and see if just for now you can really be with the feeling of your breath,
Not thinking about it but can you feel it and can you sense the relief as we give ourselves full permission to just let it all go,
All the holding,
All the avoiding,
All the trying,
Wide open to every sound,
To every feeling,
To every thought,
Letting it all be here but leaving it all alone,
Not getting involved,
Unhooking from your personal story just for now,
It's like taking off a tight shoe and let the weight of your whole body fall into the surface that it's resting on,
Just let that weight go and see if just for now you can stay with the feeling of your breath as body breathes all by itself,
Just quietly noticing the movement of your breath,
The gentle rise and fall of your chest,
Not controlling it and not changing it,
Just noticing the actual feeling of the simple experience,
Body breathing.
Just being here is enough.
Feel the inside of your mouth,
The tongue,
The inner walls of your mouth,
The roof of your mouth,
The taste inside the mouth,
Just noticing the root of the tongue softening and the throat settling down,
Nothing to do,
Words are arising,
Body responding,
There's no doer,
Just life happening,
Moment by moment by moment.
Body breathing.
Can you feel it?
Maybe a very subtle sensation.
Breath by breath by breath.
Feel any trying to find it and let it come to you,
Just stay with what is currently here,
Now.
Breath by breath by breath.
And a softening of the whole face,
The skin releasing its weight,
A softening of the ears,
No need to grasp at the words,
Nothing to follow.
Be more interested in the space between,
Before,
Beneath the words.
This softening right back,
Temples,
Eyebrows,
Releasing and letting go.
Breath by breath by breath.
Space between eyebrows,
Softening open,
Nerve connecting back of eyes to brain,
Releasing and letting go all by itself.
In the warm fluid that surrounds it and the sensation behind eyes expanding.
In all directions,
Let everything be free to come,
To go,
To unfold naturally in you,
A wide open awareness.
And let thought be completely free,
Not pushing it away,
Not getting involved.
And if you do,
No judgement,
Just unhooking from thought,
Again and again and again.
Unhooking and dropping just a little deeper.
Feel the presence of the head pouring like liquid deep into the earth.
Feel the right hand and let that feeling right hand come to you in its own time.
Back of right hand,
Palm of right hand.
Feeling the aliveness,
Thumb,
Second finger,
Third,
Fourth,
Little finger.
Sleeing and letting go.
Wrist,
Forearm,
Elbow,
Upper arm,
Shoulder,
Armpit.
Right side of chest,
Right side of the back.
Waist,
Hip,
Thigh,
Knee,
Back of knee,
Shin,
Calf.
Ankle,
Heel,
Arch of right foot,
The sole,
Big toe,
Second toe,
Third toe,
Fourth toe,
Third,
Fourth,
Little toe.
Releasing and letting go.
You are aware,
Conscious,
Knowing and being.
And as body slips into the deepest,
Most nourishing,
Healing rest.
Now welcome the feeling left hand,
Dropping the image,
The memory and just being with the immediate,
Direct feeling left hand.
Back of left hand.
Palm,
Give that feeling time.
Palm of left hand.
Thumb,
Second finger,
Third,
Fourth,
Little finger.
Sleeing and letting go.

Little toe.
Releasing and letting go.
The whole left side of body,
Softening just a little more.
The whole body,
The whole body dropping just a little deeper into the healing balm of just being.
Whether body is comfortable or uncomfortable.
Can you meet every sensation?
Can you meet any resistance that may be arising?
Can you find the yes,
Even to the no?
Say yes to body,
Just like this.
Say yes to mind,
Just like this.
Can you right now give up that last bit of trying to achieve something?
To feel something different or to get somewhere?
Can you hand over that last bit of effort to make something happen?
To find something?
And surrendering?
Surrendering to just being?
Just letting it all go?
And let yourself rest now.
In that placeless place where you just are and everything just is.
Where you cannot be touched or harmed in any way.
Where you're free.
And I'm right here,
Fully present with you as we rest together.
In that space.
Don't let you go.

My words cannot do justice to how good this meditation is. It was so beautiful to be able to drop my 'self'. To drop this burden which is not what I am. Thank you for reuniting me with my intelligence and for reminding me of where I came from. While I did this meditation I felt as though I became aware of bodily sensations that I didn't know existed! It is such an honour to know you. Thank you for all your work here. Love Shuman

Wow, this goes really really deep. Nice that the practices allows for a lot of time/space to fully surrender and let go of tension, of trying to release tension even or focus awareness on it, turns out that for me surrendering to that peaceful not-doing is a far more effective way to relax fully in mind and body. I guess a lot of times I tend to end up turning awareness itself into a kind of achieving, a trying to not do or try, when peaceful surrender is so much easier. I seem to forget about that sometimes, so thank you for reminding me. Namaste ๐
