Our senses are incredibly effective at grounding us in the present moment and reconnecting us to our inner calm and joy. This meditation will help you attune to your senses by harnessing the power of remembered sensory information. We'll walk through each of the senses one by one, calling to mind something that brings you peace and delight, while also cultivating gratitude for the miracle of our sensory experiences. To ground us,

To reroute us,

To reconnect us to our inner calm and joy.

When you're ready,

Find a comfortable position for your body,

And then take a deep breath in and out.

And as you do that,

You'll feel a sense of relief,

A sense of peace,

A sense of joy,

A sense of peace and happiness.

And as you do that,

You'll feel a sense of joy,

A sense of peace,

A sense of happiness,

A sense of joy,

A sense of peace and happiness.

And as you do that,

You'll feel a sense of joy,

A sense of peace,

A sense of joy,

A sense of happiness.

And as you do that,

You'll feel a sense of joy,

A sense of peace,

A sense of joy,

A sense of happiness.

And as you do that,

You'll feel a sense of joy,

A sense of peace,

A sense of joy,

A sense of happiness.

And as you do that,

You'll feel a sense of joy,

A sense of peace,

A sense of joy,

A sense of happiness.

And as you do that,

You'll feel a sense of joy,

A sense of peace,

A sense of joy,

A sense of happiness.

And as you do that,

You'll feel a sense of joy,

A sense of joy.

Again,

Just like that,

In through the nose.

Sigh it out.

Letting yourself land right here,

Right now.

Feeling where your body needs support.

Feeling the earth holding you up.

Seeing on these next few exhales,

If you can begin to release just a bit of your tension,

A bit of what you're carrying into the earth.

Beginning to attune to our senses,

Just feeling yourself in whatever space you're in.

Feeling the temperature of the room.

Noticing the sensation,

Perhaps of airflow as it crosses your skin.

Perhaps beginning to notice sounds.

And just letting yourself let go of the tension.

Might notice the sound of your breath,

Like waves.

Observing sounds in the space close to you.

Standing to hear what might be in the distance,

In the background.

Taking a moment to notice the sensation of sound as it travels through your ears.

It's a phenomenon that happens all day and how often do we attune to it?

Do we reflect at the miracle of sound and hearing?

So we begin to move our senses using remembered sensory information.

We'll follow along together,

Calling to mind something beautiful,

Something that fills us with delight,

With calm,

With joy,

For each sense.

Could be something seasonal or something timeless,

Whatever comes to mind for you.

We'll begin by calling to mind something visually beautiful,

Something that brings you peace,

Delight,

Joy,

All of the above.

Sharing it so vividly in your mind's eye now.

All of the colors,

All of the sounds,

All of the colors,

Gradations,

Any shadows,

Textures.

Really see it and soak it in with all of yourselves as if it is unfolding in front of you right now.

Our brain doesn't know the difference between things we experience externally with our senses and things that are imagined in this way.

It's the same chemicals,

The same firing.

So really let it be real and breathe it in.

Moving your attention to your heart's center and your heart's center.

Center now while continuing to picture this thing of beauty,

Perhaps even putting a hand on the heart if that suits you.

Breathing in gratitude for this visual you've chosen,

This person or place.

Breathing in gratitude for the gift of sight.

For visual delights.

Removing our hand now if you've placed it on your heart.

And we'll move to our hearing.

Calling to mind now a sound that delights you or calms you.

That fills you up.

Really hear it,

Feel it.

Moving your attention and maybe your hand to your heart again.

Breathing in gratitude for this lovely sound and for the gift of sound.

Releasing your hand.

We'll move now to our sense of smell.

Conjuring up something amazing.

Maybe it's a scent that takes you back to a special time in your life.

Maybe it's a time,

A special person.

Maybe it's seasonal.

Inhaling it as if it is right here with you in this moment.

Moving our attention to our heart,

Maybe our hand as well.

Breathing in gratitude for the scent that brings us joy and for the gift of smell.

Releasing our heart focus now.

Moving to taste.

Calling to mind a beautiful taste,

Something wonderful.

You might notice the way that your mouth feels when you call this to mind.

Perhaps you observe changes.

Once you have fully tasted this incredible flavor,

Moving our attention to our heart,

And breathing in gratitude for this and for the gift of taste.

Releasing our heart focus.

Moving to our last of the five senses now to touch,

Tactile sense.

It's one of my favorites.

Maybe you call to mind something you can feel.

Maybe you feel with your hands,

Something that touches your skin,

Maybe something underfoot that feels just right to you.

Maybe taking a moment to really picture the scene and letting your other senses swell.

Soaking in,

Breathing in every last drop of joy from this beautiful sensory detail.

Moving our attention to our heart center one last time.

And breathing in joy for the wonder of touch,

This way that we connect to our senses.

To others and to the world.

Releasing our heart focus now.

Zooming out.

Feeling all five of your senses attuned and awakened,

Alive.

Remembering the power of our senses to ground us in the present moment,

That at any time when you need a reset,

You can use your senses,

Sensory memories to come back to your peace,

To your joy.

If it suits you,

Maybe setting an intention now.

Maybe it's small,

Bigger.

Perhaps it's to notice a little bit more as you move through the rest of your day or week.

To really feel and experience with your senses just a bit more.

And to remember that all of this is glimmering beneath the surface of our busy lives.

Just waiting for us to remember.

Breathing in one last big,

Big breath all the way down to your toes.

Thank you so much for meditating with me today.

That was lovely and very calm inducing! I found that a lot of my senses tap into nature as far as hearing and seeing and smelling. So thank you for guiding me through this! 🙏💜
